If Bryan Danielson Was In Chikara…

After watching a couple of Bryan Danielson PWG videos on YouTube, I noticed a change of wrestling style. Not only was he brutal and making people submit to his signature finisher, but he also made me actually laugh. And I don’t mean made me laugh like insulting a fan laugh. I mean he actually did something funny. I don’t remember which event it was on, but Chris Hero and Bryan Danielson had one of the most entertaining and funniest matches I’ve seen in a very long time. That change got my mind racing and the brain juices started to pump. I asked myself… “What if American Dragon wrestled in Chikara?” Oh man, the ideas came… and never stopped. I came up with a way for Danielson to debut and a couple of opponents that I think he could have some extraordinary matches with.

Picture this: It’s King of Trios Night Two and The Colony has been paired off to go up against Dragon Dragon, Retail Dragon and a mystery partner. Dragon Dragon and Retail Dragon come down to the ring and wait at the end of the ramp for their partner. “Final Countdown” hits the speakers and the fans go wild. Out comes Bryan Danielson and he opens a wrestling clinic because all he does in the match is bust out various bridging submission holds and twists the ants like pretzels. He would go onto lose the match because Dragon Dragon whipped Danielson with his tail, causing Danielson to sit out the rest of the match. This would win the love of the Chikara Fans and make them chant “Please Come Back”.

Year by year, event after event, Chikara is getting off better financially and making more of a profit as time grows. You can tell this is true just by looking at the location of all three nights of their King of Trios 2008 Tournament (All three nights are at the New Alhambra Arena). If they have enough money to rent out the Alhambra for three nights in a row, then they can welcome back Bryan Danielson. After debuting Danielson is a comedic fashion, now it’s time to introduce the serious side. Put him in a match against Mike Quackenbush for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship Belt. After fulfilling expectations from their match at Ring of Honor, I can see these two tearing the house down at the Alhambra. Honestly, this is on the top of my list for things I’d like to see in Chikara for 2008.

Okay. So we’ve seen Danielson break it down with comedy against the Ants, technically with Quack, and now Strong Style with Kingston. Kingston is one of the stiffest wrestlers in America, and if you don’t believe me go watch Showdown in Crisisland. After watching Danielson’s match against Morishima on Manhattan Madness II, Danielson is one of the toughest wrestlers in Ring of Honor. He got socked right in the eye and was blind for 5 weeks 5 minutes into the match… and he still put on a near ***** match. I don’t care if it’s at Chikara or IWA-MS… I need to see Kingston against Bryan Danielson.

Yikes. I’ve talked about how WWE needs Bryan Danielson and now Chikara needs him too? I’m starting to sound like The Glaze. I might as well wrap it up before Glaze sues me for gimmick infringement. Bottom line… Bryan Danielson in Chikara needs to happen in 2008.

2) B-Boy out, Taro IN! That’s right. Taro of Revolution Pro fame has filled up the spot of B-Boy against Super Dragon. These two tore the house down in RevPro back when it was around and they arguably had the best match SoCal has ever seen.
