Hey everybody, it’s been awhile.
Don’t worry, I don’t blame you, totally my fault. As you may have noticed, my productivity for the site dropped way off in 2007. There’s a ton of reasons, but mostly, I think, I probably got a bit burned out and did not take the right steps to get myself back on track. So I limped along and then, basically, with the exception of editing Mathan’s column, disappeared.
Truth be told, I probably needed it, but I’ve missed writing and have been struggling to get myself back into it. With the start of 2008, I figured it was the perfect time to start anew. And what better way to do that than to proclaim my intentions, my resolutions, to all of you so you can keep me honest. I’ve divided them into promises (things I’m going to do, dammit) and goals (things I want to, but admit that I may fall short on).
Without further adieu, here are my resolutions:
Promises
1.) Images will return to Who’s Who: I started with it this week and I’m going to keep it up.
2.) I will produce at least two pieces a month for the site: This means features that I write, not just ones I put my two cents in on.
3.) I will expand the “Tim Stevens” brand: That means, while I’ll be leaving the News & Views behind (I loved it, but I know that’s part of what floored me; the week-to-week-ness of it and the sameness), but I’ll be expanding some of the recurring pieces (Welcome to the Revamping, Beware the Future’s Awesome Might) into standalone columns.
4.) I will finally do some work for other sections of Inside Pulse: I keep threatening to, it is time to follow through.
5.) I will start posting the What’s Shipping list every week again: I just think it is a nice, easy thing to do and I should get back to that.
6.) I will hit the message boards on our site at least once a week: They are so much fun and I really do miss them.
Goals
1.) I will try to produce Beware the Future’s Awesome Might on a monthly basis, roughly the same week the solicitations are released online.
2.) I will try to have at least 8 Revampings over the course of this year. If I can do that, between the new pieces and reprints, the Revampings can be monthly too.
3.) I will try to get back to reviewing. I’d love to do it on a weekly basis, but we’ll see.
4.) I will try to complete at least 3 pieces a month for the site. Two is the promise, but three is the goal.
5.) I will try to figure out a way to make the Roundtable work. I have no idea how I’m going to do this and thus it is probably my least likely goal to be realized, but it is great fun that I’ve love to get back.
These are my promises and my hopes. With any luck (and your promptings) I hope to make 2008 my personal best for work on Comics Nexus and, hopefully, improve the site along the way.
