ROH News on Shows In Orlando, Larry Sweeney’s Own Talk Show & More

News

Following is from the ROH Newswire for February 4, 2008, at ROHwrestling.com. Thanks to Carl Ashby for the below news & analysis…

Jack Evans is expected to make a complete recovery after surgery to repair the facial injuries he sustained on his latest Dragon Gate tour. The earliest estimate for his return to the ring was given by doctors as April.

Larry Sweeney has demanded that for his stable member Sera Del Rey to defend her Shimmer title in Manhattan against Daizee Haze he must be given his own talk show segment. ROH officials have agreed so starting from 2/22 in Long Island Larry Sweeney will start his new talk show.

In March ROH will hold two very special shows in Orlando. For 3/28 “Dragon Gate Challenge II” will take place and feature a series of unique and fresh ROH vs. Dragon Gate bouts. On 3/29 “Supercard of Honor III” will showcase the big feuds and rivalries within ROH.

The new ROH Video Wire highlights both the ROH World Tag Team Title change and Chris Hero & Sara Del Ray in action. Also two big matches coming out of it are Nigel McGuinness vs. Brent Albright and Bryan Danielson vs. Rocky Romero for Long Island on 2/22

Larry Sweeney’s own talk show, now that is certainly something different. The man has the gift of the gab so it’s a natural fit for him but anyone else feel ROH having a talk show segment is something that isn’t them? Something you wouldn’t think ROH would do?

Glad to hear about Jack Evans and that he is on the road to recovery, there are some pictures circulating the internet that show pictures of Jack and his injuries, lets just say they aren’t for the squeamish. I don’t think he will change his in-ring style, but it should be something to maybe think about. Landing on your face and looking such a mess, is it worth it? I like Jack and think he is very gifted in what he does but to sustain very scarey looking injuries would cast doubt about his style into anyone’s mind.

The ROH shows around the Wrestlemania period tend to be some of the best for ROH so I’m sure everyone has high expectations for them and this fan is no different. Dragon Gate Challenge and Supercard of Honor 1 & 2 are must own shows, get a hold of them while you can during the current ROH sale. For myself BJ Whitmer vs. Jimmy Jacobs in the cage at Supercard of Honor 2 is one of the many golden gems of 2007.

Out of the newly announced matches for 2/22 Bryan Danielson vs. Rocky Romero appeals to me the most, both have come on leaps and bounds since their first ROH encounter in 2005. These two have the same work ethic and Danielson always brings out the best in other people, so this really could be the best match of the 2/22 Long Island show. Bryan Danielson will of course gain lots of momentum coming out of the match but personally I hope he doesn’t win the title from Nigel on 2/23. Nigel McGuinness’ title reign so far has been so different from those in the past that it has me wanting to see what odds Nigel can keep over coming.
