Cro Cop Leaving UFC?

News

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović posted this today on his blog:

I’m off to Tokyo!
A big announcement will come straight from Japan tomorrow (February 13).
When the official part is done I’ll be able to provide more information about everything,
and believe me, I have many things to say.
What you could easily guess by now is that I won’t be retiring.
I’ll keep on fighting, it’s my life, it’s what I do.

According to Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com, Cro Cop will be at tomorrow’s Fighting Entertainment Group press conference in Japan, where a new MMA group is expected to be announced. FEG, who owns kickboxing promotion K-1, will be replacing the HERO*S division with the new group.

In UFC, Cro Cop was 1-2 under a big contract. Rumors were going around that UFC was considering releasing him from his deal, but that is not confirmed. His professional MMA record is 22-6-2, and he was the 2006 PRIDE Open Grand Prix Champion.
