UFC.com is reporting that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua suffered a torn ACL in training and will be undergoing surgery.
His fight vs. Chuck Liddell at UFC 85 in London has been canceled, with a new opponent to be announced for June 7.
This would have been a pretty huge fight for Rua, who was hoping to come back after a loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 76. “I’ve never seen Shogun so motivated for a fight like this in years,” said Rua spokesman Eduardo Alonso. “This was like a new beginning for him.”
