Make Movement: Maybe Next Week Will Be Better

There are some things on RAW right now that shouldn’t be happening and the biggest one that sticks out is this ridiculous angle with Hornswoggle, JBL, Finley and McMahon. There couldn’t have been anything I had any less interest in. The hospital bed scene was just way too much, and is like a badly written soap scene. Overall, this RAW hasn’t been as good as previous RAWs.

The surprise of Jeff Hardy looking like more of a heelish-face when he basically said every man for himself during Chris Jericho’s segment and giving him a Twist of Fate was interesting, and it’s not enough for a full heel turn. It gives him a edge that he really hasn’t had without disconnecting his popularity, though he got some mild boos. I think Chris Jericho completely lacks a edge right now. Maybe the Money In The Bank will turn things around for him, otherwise I’m not sure what he’s doing around right now.

The things I’m excited about are tied to the legends: Mae Young being inducted this year into the Hall of Fame (my official guess is Stephanie McMahon will induct her) which should promise to be a fun and emotional speech and of course, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels date with destiny. I’m eager to see how the match plays itself out.

The Money Mayweather angle is strange right now because the guy can’t talk wrestling promos like he can do a boxing promo, or they are using pre-taped repetitive footage that Show had to follow along with. Big Show was practically unintentionally comical with destroying the ‘same sized’ Brandon Hill. Yes, Big Show got to show his aggressive side with someone who looks like Mayweather and comes across more as a face right now as the wrestler against the boxer. Mayweather needs to be there in the arena for fans to get hot about this angle again. If it’s not important enough for Mayweather to be present at shows, then I have to question why fans, passive and passionate alike, should pay big money to see this match as the WWE wants. In no way am I expecting a match by the way, there’s no way it can be with their size difference and Mayweather not being a trained wrestler.

Umaga squashing people every week doesn’t do someone like Super Crazy any favors and as usual, Umaga has no real purpose on the show. It’s unfortunate because as Hardy is chasing his dreams to become WWE World Champion, Umaga should be the IC Champion. Sadly the IC belt, once one of the most competitive tiers of the WWE, has no competitive purpose.

Speaking of no purpose, I miss Mickie James! Where is she? Beth Phoenix, even? Instead we’re getting the Maria Playboy push. By the way it took Maria all these months to finally put Santino ‘in his place’? That was strange, are we to believe that Playboy got Maria empowered?

As far as the critical John Cena, Triple H and Randy Orton feud, it’s not going in a bad direction in the traditional turning on each other for the championship, but now every time I see Cena, I get distracted about his off-air Rock comments over in the UK. Now I can only daydream about The Rock, Rock Bottoming him on the Hall of Fame stage. Sometimes I wonder if Cena said his comments in a Hulk Hogan-like fashion, in hoping that Rock would come back for a special moneymaking match, like Hogan wanted with Steve Austin. Regardless if it’s a worked-shoot or not, it doesn’t do anyone any favors to have that lingering before being involved in the biggest PPV of the year.
