Kace’s Countdown – ECW 3/4/2008

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

And now, your Top 5 Moments from this week’s ECW On SciFi! This list is compiled and determined by Kace Evers…a strange, odd being who considers Primary & Caucus Coverage to be entertaining in its own right. Why? Because Norah O’Donnell rocks more than you.

5 – Chuck Rides In

Chuck Palumbo rides around the ring on his motorcycle, scouting Kane for a match on SmackDown (which thanks to their taping setup, already happened earlier in the evening) while Kane himself disposes of James Curtis. The good news is Curtis is getting quite a bit of face time on ECW as of late.

4 – Kofi Breaks Up The Catfight

It started simple and sweet enough. Kofi Kingston compliments Kelly Kelly on her looks (but oddly not her initials) while they look at a big version of Maria Kanellis’s Playboy magazine cover. Kofi walks away and Kelly is then interrupted by her chief rival in life, Layla El. They exchange words and then there’s a slap! And a fight breaks out! Before Layla and Kelly can rip into each other too much, Kofi comes back over to help break things up. Had Joey Styles been able to yell, “Catfiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight,” on the mic, this would have probably been catapulted up to about #2, just for nostalgia value.

3 – Shelton Ends Stevie’s Win Streak

It was the most remarkable win streak in recent WWE memory as Stevie Richards, back from time off to deal with his nagging throat injury had come back with a couple of wins over enhancement talent, then a bigger win over Mike Knox. But with the competition stepped up in the form of Money In The Bank Qualifier, Shelton, Stevie suddenly hit a brick wall. It was a good match and Stevie did what he could, but the Jumping Flatliner by Shelton would wind up ending the win streak for Stevie. But there’s always next week!

2 – Chavo Retains, Defeats CM

All it takes is one vital mistake and Chavo Guerrero Jr. is able to capitalize and beat you nowadays. That is the lesson learned this week, at the expense of CM Punk. He had Chavo in the corner, but wound up getting crotched on the top rope, leading to the Frog Splash and the pinfall victory for the ECW Champion, Chavo. Once again, CM appears to be headed towards Last Chance territory as he was when chasing John Morrison for the title in 2007.

1 – Colin’s Hardcore

Balls Mahoney hasn’t been around lately, so the hardcore chair swinging freak schtick had to go to somebody. Might as well be Colin Delaney. As Colin and his tag team partner, Tommy Dreamer challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship against John Morrison and Mike Mizanin, Colin gets fed up with being picked on and beat up by the Champs and in a moment of either clarity or insanity decides to use a chair to do something about it. Colin attacks Mike and gets his team disqualified, then attacks John before knocking Mike out of the ring with the chair. The moment gets a notable charge out of the crowd and a pleasantly surprised expression from Tommy. The feud between these teams continues on into next week as both teams will fight it out, “Extreme Rules,” style for the belts. As for Colin, the strange journey continues.
