Serial Watcher – Lost – Episode 4-06

Shows, Top Story

We start with Juliet, in what appears to be a psychiatrist office. I didn’t really like Juliet in the past but form some reason she grew on me.
And it’s a flash forward as Juliet is a “celebrity”. Considering she wasn’t on flight 815, is she one of the Oceanic Six or is she outside the regular headcount?
And I feel like I was just hit with a curveball. It’s not a flash forward and Juliet is not off the island. It’s a flashback to her first week on the island and the psychiatrist, Harper, is welcoming her. Hi Tom!
Ben was such a charmer, introducing her to her new home, stocking it with classic opera CDs.
Juliet says she’s only gonna be there for six months. Yeah honey, you keep telling yourself that.

Current Island Time(It’s the first time that I have to deal in my real-time recaps with a flashback that takes place on the island, so this is how I’ll distinguish between the two timeframes): Dan and Charlotte head into the woods. Turns out that Jack has been keeping the truth about them (At least the little truth he knows) from the rest. Now he’s leading a search party after them.
Juliet’s starting to hear voices. This shouldn’t really be scary after all this time, but it still is. Wow, where did Harper come from? Is she real or imaginary?
She looks real to me. And the message she’s delivering, from Ben no less, seems dire – Dan and Charlotte are headed to another Dharma station in order to spread poison gas on the island. This explains the gas masks they had with them. My guess is it’s the same gas that The Others used to kill the Dharma people. SO Juliet has to kill them. And Ben is “3xactly where he wants to be”. I knew he was the one controlling Locke and not the other way around! I just knew it.
So Jack also saw Harper, and then both he and Juliet heard the same voices and she was gone. Why am I trembling? I’m a grown man.

Flashback: It’s been a long time since Juliet let herself cry like that. Hey, it’s Goodwin! Looks like an Other Reunion. They were nice people before the Lostwayas killed them. So Juliet didn’t like Harper from the start? Nice move Juliet, telling that to her husband – how does that foot taste in your mouth? But she did find out about dangerous chemicals.

Current Island Time: Juliet’s leading Jack to the Tempest and tells him it’s an electric station. But is it really?
Dan and Charlotte appear to be lost. No pun intended. And he doubts himself.
Holy shit! KATE! Charlotte is trying to BS Kate about their intentions. Stupid Charlotte, it’s KATE.
Damn It Kate, don’t turn your back on Charlotte, don’t do it! And Charlotte takes her out. Who hasn’t seen this coming a mile away? Can I borrow from Dr. House and call Charlotte Cut-throat Bitch from now on?
And we’re back to Jack and Juliet. I like her line “It’s very stressful being an Other”. Kind of like “It’s not easy being green”.
The meeting with Harper really shook Juliet up. She’s back to hiding things and being all closed up. Now I remember why I didn’t like her – I couldn’t figure her out.

Flashback: Juliet and Ben in the lab. Ben seems very possessive of Juliet. You can see he didn’t like Goodwin talking to her.
Harper is one hostile therapist. She wouldn’t be able to cut it on In Treatment. Whoa whoa whoa. Did Juliet sleep with Goodwin? Juliet, you bitch. Now I know why Harper is so hostile towards her (But this doesn’t explain why Juliet disliked her even before meeting Goodwin).
WTF? Would Ben hurt Goodwin for sleeping with Juliet? Is he a religious freak or just jealous?

Current Island Time: Locke’s camp. I hate Locke. But I like Claire. Nice to see she’s not intimidated by Locke and she has some common sense about Miles.
Ben is so great. He’s such a puppet master and Locke doesn’t even see it. Locke thinks that by keeping Ben away from everyone else, he’s stopping him from messing with their minds. In fact, the only thing Locke accomplishes is that he’s allowing Ben to mess with his own mind. And you just know he’s going to eat Ben’s bate.

Flashback: Juliet and Goodwin continued to see each other, but she insisted on keeping it private. Smart woman. I think this is the first case in history where the cheating husband wants to come clean and leave his wife and the mistress is stopping him from doing so.
Goodwin worked at the Tempest. There’s our other connection to current island events.
Oh Goodwin, “What’s Ben goona do?”? You’ve been on the island longer than Juliet, you should know better than to underestimate Ben.
It’s the Oceanic crash! Great imagery. And we’re reminded that Ben sent Goodwin to the tailies where he was killed.

Current Island Time: Jack and Julie find Kate. Juliet looks jealous when Jack treats Kate. Does she feel like “the other woman” (Notice that this is also the episode’s title) again, like she did with Goodwin?
Where the hell did Juliet disappear to? They were in the middle of something!
And at Locke’s camp, he swallowed Ben’s bate and took him out of the cell. Ben’s going to be the leader again in not time. Now all that’s left is to watch the tape. Notice is Betamax.
I said last week that I love Charles Whitmore. I still do. And I’m not really surprised that he’s the one behind the boat. He’s a classic villain.
They’re building towards the revelation of Ben’s mole on the boat. This better be big.
Jack and Kate are now on the trail, no Juliet. I’m glad that he confronted here then and there about why she stayed with Locke. I’m glad that she told him the truth.
Here’s Juliet, and here’s the Tempest. She walks in alone but holding her gun. Lost’s tension/scary music is the best of its kind on TV.

Flashback: Ben’s having Juliet over for dinner, but she thought it was a dinner party. Sneaky Ben. For someone who’s so cool and calm all the time, he really seems on edge when it comes to Juliet. He’s even trying to get her to think that Goodwin has a thing for Ana Lucia. Now I think that Ben intentionally sent Goodwin to his death, Like King David did in biblical times.

Current Island Time: We’re back at the Tempest. Dan and Charlotte have hazmat-suited up and there are warning sirens.
Dan wouldn’t quit even with Juliet pointing a gun at him. This is where we go back to the encounter with Harper – she told Juliet to kill them.
Hold on. Dan says he’s not releasing the gas, he’s making it safe? With only 1 minute left on the timer, he better not be lying. I know he seems like the most trustworthy guy from the boat, but still, I’m not sure.
And here’s Charlotte!!! But Juliet proves to be a bigger badass than Kate and she fights back and takes control!!! Way to go Juliet!
Now Charlotte’s has the same story about disarming the gas so Ben won’t use it, bringing up Ben’s history. So are they telling the truth?
YES THEY DID! It’s disarmed. That was close.

Flashback: Ben’s coming into the lab. I have a feeling he’s going to tell Juliet that Goodwin died. She’s reading Jack’s file, telling Ben he can help.
And I was right, Ben did come in to tell her about Goodwin, but being who he is, he actually took her to see his body as it was found. You know, I was about to ask where’s Harper when Juliet and Ben bring this up themselves. Now Ben admits to everything. He admits that he want Juliet for himself (or in his words, “You’re mine!”) and that he sent Goodwin to his death intentionally. Could this be the moment that Juliet began to hatch her plan about asking Jack to kill Ben on the operating table?

Current Island Time: Kate vs. Juliet vs. Charlotte. This could be a pretty sweet triple threat.
Juliet tells Jack everything about Ben, his feeling for her, how he gets to her, the war between Ben and the boat. She warns Jack about Ben and confesses her feelings and he kisses her. If Kate sees that she’s gonna run back to Sawyer and spend another night with him.
Speak of the devil, here’s Sawyer now playing his Hurly at the village. Again, Hurly looks like he lost some weight.
Ben is released from jail! Sawyer and Hurly are shocked, but I’m not so much. It was just a matter of time and now there’s nothing stopping him from completely taking Locke down. But still, the visual of him walking around with the fresh linen? Cool.

So the newest big question is Who Ben’s mole on the boat is. This better be good. I can’t wait for next week.
