Matt Hardy’s “Cryptic” Blog (and my thoughts)

News

In his latest MySpace blog entry, Matt Hardy doesn’t address his brother’s recent WWE suspension, but is admittedly “cryptic” in his commentary. Rather than speculate, here is the link if you’d like to decide if any of it is worth reading into: blog.myspace.com/theonlymatthardy.

My thoughts on Matt Hardy with regards to his brother’s recent troubles? WWE should for the first time since the beginning of the Wellness Program acknowledge a drug suspension on television, and write it into the storylines.

The announcers can direct fans to WWE.com to get an update on “a Money in the Bank participant” that was removed from WrestleMania due to failing a drug test, and hype that a mystery entrant will take his place at Mania. Speculation can run rampant on WWE.com, with misdirections and teases that a number of people from Ric Flair (“rumor has it that the winner of HBK/Flair will be entered into the ladder match!”) to RVD (along with quotes from him denying he is making a comeback) will be the entrant.

Finally, Matt Hardy shows up at Mania, wins the MitB and then gets a new chance to cut the promo of his life on the following night’s Raw. If he can come across honest and passionate, about how even though he forgives him and loves him, he’s dissappointed in his brother after all the faith he — and the fans — had in him, and second chance after second chance… Matt has a great opportunity to connect with the audience again and take his game to the next level. “Matt Hardy finally has a FIRST chance at the ultimate prize, and I guarantee I will be world champion before 2008 is over!”

Assuming the rumors were true that Jeff was in line for a possible MitB win and title shot, if not title win, this makes all the sense in the world. Quite frankly, by taking advantage of the situation, both WWE and Matt Hardy — as well as all of the Hardy fans who continue to scream, yell and buy merch. — can benefit.
