Jeff Hardy’s suspension was related to recreational drug use, not performance enhancers, says Jason Powell at Prowrestling.net.

While WWE’s Wellness Program gives the company the right to suspend Hardy indefinitely if they request that he seeks treatment and he refuses, we don’t yet know if he was asked to do so. In fact, Hardy left WWE back in 2003 when they wanted him to go to rehab and he said no, no, no.

According to Powell’s sources, Hardy had a long meeting with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and head of talent relations John Laurinaitis prior to Monday’s Raw to discuss his suspension. Powell also reports that Hardy “was said to be subdued and mindful of his words” in the locker room.

There’s been quite a bit of coverage of the Jeff Hardy story, everywhere from the Associated Press to gossip blog TMZ.com. Here are links to a few of them:

Whatever drug(s) are in question, the most important thing from my perspective is that Hardy is healthy and doesn’t put himself or his co-workers in danger, so here’s hoping he comes back in a good situation.
