That sure was a dominate 1-2 punch in the rotation while it lasted.
Pedro Martinez will be out of the Mets rotation for the next 4-6 weeks after straining his hamstring in his first start of the year. The Mets traded most of the players who could have filled in for Marinez to the Twins for Santana, so who knows, show up at Shea and you might get put in a game.
And in more crushing news to my fantasy teams, JJ Putz has been put on the DL by the Mariners with a Strained Rib Cage muscle. Putz had given up a game winning homerun to Josh Hamilton Tuesday and said he felt discomfort burning the batter before Hamilton. There’s no timetable on his return, and the Mariners will probably use a closer by committee until Putz comes back.
