Yahoo! news is reporting that Oscar winner Charlton Heston is dead at 84. The family has declined to comment on the cause of death, but the actor revealed six years he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer’s disease.
“If Hollywood had a Mt. Rushmore, Heston’s face would be on it,” Michael Levine, Charlton Heston’s Publicist, said about the actor. “He was a heroic figure that I don’t think exists to the same degree in Hollywood today.”
Heston’s political activism almost overshadowed his legendary career, winning an Oscar for Ben-Hur and portraying an arm’s full of historical figures as well as being a long time president of the National Rifle Association.
