Disc Announcements, News

What was once rumored to be released in 2006 will now fully come to fruition on July 29. That’s right, New Line (via Warner Bros.) will be releasing a Dark City: Director’s Cut on both DVD and Blu-ray. TheDigitalBits is reporting that studio’s press information indicates that both discs will feature “enhanced picture and sound, never-before-seen footage and three commentary tracks that take you deeper than ever before into the world of one of sci-fis most exciting and revered tales.” The Blu-ray will be a BD-50 disc. Director Alex Proyas’ new cut of the film runs 111 minutes (the original version was 96 minutes).

Also, Sony Pictures will release Vantage Point on both DVD and Blu-ray disc on July 1. This thriller, which grossed over $70 million in theaters, will have a special Blu-ray feature: a GPS Tracker option that will allow you to follow the complicated movements of the characters. Both versions will also feature audio commentary, deleted scenes and interviews with the cast and crew.
