MLB Daily Update: 05/22/2008

I went to CBS Sportsline this morning and was disturbed to find this head line:

“Pujols injures two in same frame”

Now, I didn’t watch the games, but saying he injured 2 players is a little mis-leading. He his a line drive off starting pitcher Chris Young’s face, breaking his nose. Complete freak accident. Later in the inning, Pujols slides into home and collides with catcher Josh Bard; Bard sprained his ankle. Again, kind of a freak accident.

What upsets me is that headline would make one think it was intentional – which we all know it wasn’t. They could have changed the headline to something like “2 Padres injured in freak plays” or something along those lines.

Pujols already said he was haunted by what happened to Young and said he couldn’t concentrate on the game after it.
