News on Flair Farewell Tour, Speech Edit, Memphis/WWE Lawsuit & More

News

Some misc. news & notes:

– “There is talk” of Ric Flair doing a “Farewell Tour” of different indie shows and events over the summer, maybe even NWA shows, if WWE signs off. He is appearing on June 28 in Oakland, VA, at a VIP meet-and-greet at Twin Valley Middle School. This is part of a benefit being run by NWA All Star Wrestling for the school, and Flair’s reps were actually contacted by the school, asked to come in for a signing appearance.

– The WrestleMania DVD edits out the mention of Benoit in Ric Flair’s speech.

– Hacksaw Jim Duggan is moving to a WWE Legends deal rather than his current full contract, so he can do some outside appearances when Raw’s not taping.

– After several weeks of televising re-runs of old shows, Corey Maclin’s Memphis Wrestling is negotiating with WPXX-50 in Memphis for a new weekly TV series, and Brian Lawler (Grandmaster Sexay) is in the running to be booker. Maclin had recently settled his lawsuit with WWE over pulling Jerry Lawler out of a Lawler/Hogan match (that became Big Show/Hogan) a while back, and Jim Ross blogs about this and other topics here.
