MLB Daily Update: 05/29/2008

Has anyone been bugged by the Steroid Stigma more than Bret Boone? The guys was lights out for a few years, then steroid testing started and he fell off completely. Any time his name is mentioned now, someone always says “He wasn’t the same player once he got off the juice.”

Well, Boone’s comeback attempt is officially over – he’s announced his retirement. He had spent the season with the National’s Triple A affiliate in Columbus. I think the move that did it was not giving him the opportunity for a call up when Ronnie Belliard went on the DL.
