The Mark in Me: WWE Draft Choices That Need to be Made

Columns, Top Story

With this years Draft a few weeks away, I took it upon myself to decided who to move around for the WWE. Since they always listen to what the IWC says, especially me, I can’t wait to see these moves happen come June 23.

Without further ado, here are the moves that need to be made:

From Raw to…

-Chris Jericho (to SmackDown, along with the Intercontinental Championship)
I think everyone can agree that Jericho’s return has been a bit lackluster, however, he is the current (and 8th time) IC Champion. This title has been on Raw since the brand extension, and I think it is about time to switch secondary titles. Also, this gives a fresh contender for Edge, and com’on, who doesn’t want to see a Jericho/Edge World Title program?

-Lance Cade (to ECW).
I like Cade, I think he’s done a great job in the tag division along side Murdoch, but I think if they want him to stand-out, he needs to do it on another show, since he’s been buried in multiple Tag Team Handicap matches with HHH, and lost big time matches against makeshift tag teams (Cena/HBK). ECW would be perfect for this, as he would climb the ladder very quickly, and probably be a top heel contender for the ECW Title.

-Umaga (to SmackDown)
Obviously Umaga is one of the top heels on Raw, however he has been in programs with everyone on that roster in the, just over, 2 years he’s been around. Moving him to SmackDown will brighten things up. Feuds with Matt Hardy, Batista, and an eventually returning Undertaker only make sense.

-Jeff Hardy (to ECW)
This is one that I’m sure most people will not agree with. Here me out. I think Jeff Hardy is the answer ECW has been looking for. Jeff Hardy is the person people will tune in to see. Let’s face it, he’s just a side note on Raw, but on ECW, he can easily be the ECW Champion (which, at this point, is just about the same as the US or IC Champion). Along with it will come the pressure of carrying the show, assuming the ECW/SD agreement ends, and ECW is back on its own, and this will be a great litmus test for Jeff.

-Carlito (to SmackDown)
Carlito has lost loads of steam since his move from SD to Raw 3 years ago. He’s gone from main eventing an Elimination Chamber, to getting a Tag Title Match at WM22 with Masters, to a face program against Orton, to a heel turn on his short-time tag partner, Ric Flair. Outside of those small accomplishments, he has done very little on Raw to warrant him staying around. Factor in that he is from Puerto Rico, and it seems like WWE likes to market SD more to the Latino crowd, a move back to where he started would make sense.

From SmackDown to…

-MVP (to Raw)
This choice is so obvious it hurts. Sadly, I am afraid that the move will only stall MVP’s momentum, as it did to Carlito & Mr. Kennedy when they moved to Raw. MVP is just begging to step up to Main Event, and he can serve as some extra fodder…I mean get some experience facing HHH.

-Mark Henry (to Raw)
Nothing more here but mid-card heel to build up a bit as somewhat of a threat and can be a TV main eventer. This would basically take the place of Umaga, and, while Henry isn’t the ideal ‘monster’ we’d like to see, this will do for now.

-Kenny Dykstra (to ECW)
Kenny is so underutilized, it is not even funny. How is this young man with so much talent not on TV every week. ECW is the perfect spot for him to showcase his talent. They can afford to have him around and keep the title away from him.

-Natalya (to Raw)
If they are truly building up the Second Generation stable over on Raw, how do you leave her out?

-Matt Hardy (to Raw, along with the US Championship)
Sure, I said that Jeff was just a side-note on Raw, and won’t be really missed, however both these guys are crazy over, you need to have a Hardy on Raw. Along with that, this switches the US with the IC, which will be a nice little shake up.

From ECW to…

-Kane (to Anywhere but ECW)
Kane needs to get as far away from ECW & the ECW Title as possible. I don’t care if he goes back to Raw or back to SD, but this is the biggest move that needs to be made. I know full well that WWECW is nothing like OGECW, but there is a reason why fan enjoyed the OGECW, and it’s not because of the blood and guts, it’s because it was a stepping stone to the big time, to the WCW & WWF. It’s time WWE realizes this, and makes ECW the young guys show.

-Chavo Guerrero (to SmackDown)
Again, I think Chavo just needs to leave ECW, but the best fit is SD to be with Aunt Vickie. Chavo still has plenty of potential, and maybe a successful US/IC title run will help him out.

-CM Punk (to Raw)
Punk has been in the Land of Extreme for 2 full years now. He is easily the most over WWECW Original that they have, and while he still carries Money in the Bank, he’d be a great addition to Raw. He has future IC/US title runs, and plenty of fresh feuds with Kennedy, JBL, Orton, HHH and so on.

Supplemental Draft

This happened last year, so one can only assume that it will again this year. If that is the case, here are some moves that I think they will make.

From Raw to…

Paul London & Brian Kendrick (to SmackDown)
Melina (to SmackDown)
Super Crazy (to ECW)
Trevor Murdoch (to SmackDown)
Val Venis (to ECW)

From SmackDown to…

Deuce & Domino (to Raw)
Jamie Noble (to ECW)
Michelle McCool (to Raw)
Victoria (to Raw)
Shannon Moore (to Raw)

From ECW to…

Armando Estrada (to SmackDown)
Layla El (to SmackDown)
Mike Knox (to Raw)

That’s how we do it. Check back on June 23 to find out how right, or more then likely, how wrong I will be!
