10 Thoughts On The Ultimate Fighter: Semi-Finals – 06.12.08

1) We start with the Coach’s Challenge which sees Forrest housing Rampage in a game of U-L-T-I-M-A-T-E-F-I-G-H-T-E-R. If this were wrestling, we’d presume that it meant Rampage was penciled in for the big win at the PPV.

2) Very odd sequence where they show Jesse getting totally blasted and being a drunken animal in the house. Not a violent drunken animal just crazy running around like a crazy man drunken animal. I don’t think I’d want a friend like that. One of my rules with getting drunk with people is to always know, if crap goes crazy, that I could handle them. I could not handle Jesse and he would break my face.

3) Another weird sequence where Tim starts giving Jesse coaching tips. He points out some mistakes that Jesse makes. *Cue foreshadowing music*

4) Hey it’s the first “I’m doin this for my kid” segment followed by the first “This is my last go at it” segment.

5) First round was another one of those “could go either way” rounds. On one hand, Jesse spent the ENTIRE round on top and threw the more damaging shots. But Tim mostly controlled the pace, absorbed what he had to, and locked in a couple of good submissions that he just couldn’t lock in. Tim’s strategy in the fight honestly seemed to be bide his time and wait for Jesse to give him a limb. Not flashy but probably a good way to beat him if he thinks he can keep absorbing. First round probably went to Jesse, though.

6) Bad round for Tim in round 2. Jesse gave him his back twice and he couldn’t capitalize. Other than that round two was much more of the same. Jesse was on top for almost the entire round. Tim had a chance to take to round and couldn’t. 2nd round definitely goes to Jesse.

7) More of the same in round 3. In no surprise, the decision went unanimous to Jesse with two of the judges giving Jesse a two-point round. I was half right so far.

8) And they swerved me. Only one semi-final fight this week. CB/Amir goes next week. In the preview, we see that there’s a “shocking finish” and someone is “out of the finale and out of the UFC” per Dana. They show a grainy security video with someone kicking in a limo door? Interesting.
