The Mole: Chile, Episode 5-03

I missed last week’s episode because… well, frankly, my daughter tired me out as I was still pretty exhausted from my business trip the week before. But anyway, Liz got executed while the team raised the pot to $63,000.

Game 1: Fruit of the Luge – The Clay/Bobby snafu wasn’t entirely obvious at first glance, so I don’t think any malice was involved. Especially in light of what happened later. Now, Craig’s actions during this game made me really suspicious. It was clearly a very blatant mistake – and with Craig, noone would suspect this as a bit of Mole sabotage since it was so out in the open. Paul I felt did too well here that the “big apple” clue wouldn’t seem to apply to him. However Alex, with his 1 for 7 performance makes you suspicious, especially with the two apples. But in his defence, Nicole is trying really hard to make us wonder about that medical degree.

Incidentally, this game reminded me of the now-demolished Slide Ride at Blue Mountain. Mostly because I wiped out on it and ended up skinning the back of my leg something nasty.

Game 2: Dress Code – I gather that this game was designed to have the women in skimpy clothing. No arguments from me here. Or from the grade school boys who seemed to enjoy the view. Clay and Mark dropping out quickly didn’t really seem suspicious at all to me, but then we have the benefit of knowing that they’re in an alliance and probably did this for strategic purposes. Alex came through here with his Spanish, and Craig had a “last minute save” by discovering the dry cleaners, but overall it seemed that the mission wasn’t one that there was obvious sabotage – public embarassment appeared to be enough here.

As an aside, I think that Jon Kelley has found his groove. He’s entered that area where he can be dickish at times but professional at other times. He’s doing a good job as befitting a host who is with the players more than most reality show hosts.

In the first quiz I played it as though Alex was the Mole. Alex is still high on my list, but I think that Craig is also a viable suspect, and I will be playing close attention to these two next week to see what they do. Why Craig? Well, to be honest, noone ever suspects the fat person. He’s always the nice guy, the buddy, the person who’s always there for you. So you’d never expect it when that guy turns around and stabs you in the back.

With Alex, he just seems to fit the mold that the ABC producers have gone with for 3 of the last 4 seasons. It remains to be seen what he’ll do in future weeks.

Anyways, Ali took the $30,000 bribe, claiming that she wants to “be with family”. Don’t these people know that you get sequestered? I think that the Dress Code game was the breaking point for her – her shoes looked like those that are good for show, but not so much for walking. Unlike the “hooker” boots that Victoria and Kristin were sporting.

The kicker to this, of course, was that someone was still getting the boot, and that person was Bobby. It’s kind of a shame since he seemed like he was really trying to play the game, but as he sort of pointed out, it was go big or go home – no bribes for Bobby.

That’s all for now.
