Young@Heart to DVD this September

Disc Announcements, News, Press Releases

You’re never too old to rock out. Kids do it, teens do it, even grandmas and grandpas do it. This year saw the release of an entertaining documentary about a group of senior citizens who sing in a chorus. But it’s not a gospel chorus. This is a chorus of rock! Sampling from The Clash to Coldplay, the documentary Young at Heart is both exhilarating and uplifting. And now it is coming to home video.

Winner of the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival’s Audience Award for Best International Feature, Young@Heart follows the group over a seven-week rehearsal schedule as they rigorously practice such aptly named modern classics as The Bee Gee’s “Stayin’ Alive,” The Ramones’ “I Want To Be Sedated” and Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” in preparation for a one-night only, sold-out concert in Northampton, Massachusetts. “A crowd-and-critic-pleasing sleeper that is joyous, wrenching, intimate and hilarious,” (Elle Magazine), Young@Heart takes audiences on an inspirational journey with a group that may be old in body, but who refuse to grow old in spirit.

Directed by Stephen Walker, the Young@Heart chorus features former schoolteachers, executives, doctors and food service directors and is guided by their longtime director Bob Cilman. Both hilarious and heartbreaking, the tenacity of these surprising songbirds is not only life-affirming but redefines the meaning of the term “golden years.” Packed with deleted scenes and a Young@Heart Goes To Hollywood featurette, the Young@Heart DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $27.98 U.S./$43.48 Canada.

Also, On July 1, Rhino will offer the Young@Heart soundtrack exclusively as a digital-only release for a suggested retail price of $11.99. On August 19, Rhino will re-release the group’s album Young@Heart Mostly Live for $18.98 on CD and as a digital download for $11.99. Young@Heart Mostly Live includes 17 live performances of covers ranging from Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees” and OutKast’s “Hey Ya” to Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” and Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side.” The album also features John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy,” U2’s “One” and The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Ruby Tuesday.”
