10 Thoughts on Impact – 06.26.2008

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

1. It was strange seeing Ray come out without D-Von. It was stranger how much less of a star he felt like alone.

2. A little thing that pleased me: After Kong won, she pushed her opponent out of the ring. An awesome beastly, alpha wrestler moment.

3. The background stuff for Angelina Love and Gail Kim makes their match feel more important than any short term build could.

4. The Matt Morgan stuff, on the other hand, serves no discernable purpose. Yay, he played basketball.

5. Trigg and Angle’s plan of drawing out AJ so Karen could be jumped was very clever in wrestler terms. Beats the hell out of the “Cerebral Assassin’s” great plan of hitting everyone with a sledgehammer.

6. If Dutt’s entrance really worth all this effort? He seems to be a good heel, but as a worker, he’s still, at best, a second rate flier.

7. Booker is wearing a red velvet robe with a leopard print collar. No comments, just worth noting.

8. ODB and Moose’s hardcore brawl was effective because hardcore matches of that type have been off the air so long that this felt new and different.

9. I get the build to Nash vs. Joe and it’s really well done, but this whole story is doing a piss poor job on selling me the next PPV which will have Joe vs. Booker T. I also have a sinking feeling Booker will win the belt since Joe vs. Nash is getting hot enough to not need it. I’d not mind if Nash had any chance of delivering in the ring at this point.

10. If you watched Impact, there was a George Carlin marathon on HBO2 at the same time. Carlin is a legend for a damn good reason, having one of the most creative, original, and hilarious minds in recorded human history (and no, that isn’t hyperbole). Impact was good this week. You should have watched Carlin.
