WWE Smackdown Going Live?, Ashley Wants Out & More

News

According to PWInsider.com, WWE is keen on doing live editions of Smackdown on PPV weekends once the show moves to MyNetwork TV in an attempt to raise the profile of the brand. It is unknown when they will begin this but they do definitely want to have the live plan in place before WrestleMania 25. So far the company has not announced any Smackdown taping dates from October onwards. This has been discussed internally for a while and is the main reason behind ECW not yet switching to touring with Raw, as was rumoured to be happening this month. Kevin Dunn has been against live Smackdowns in the past due to the extra time on the road it would involve for his production crew, yet WWE is in a place now where they really need to make Smackdown a success on MyNetwork TV due to a lack of alternatives open to the show should the network itself fail.

Ashley Massaro posted on her MySpace blog that she has requested her WWE release due to her 7 year-old daughter being in ill-health.

According to Prowrestling.net, apparently Brian Kendrick is held in much higher regard than Paul London backstage in WWE. The consensus is that London is an inconsistent performer with a bad attitude, as well as being a ‘heat magnet’ behind the scenes.

Also from Prowrestling.net, Joey Styles has been making a favourable impression since leaving the ECW announce table to take charge of WWE.com. He has been spending a lot of time with Vince McMahon at meetings, tapings and even on the corporate jet.
