Chikara News as of 7.30.2008

Back in July, Mike Quackenbush and Shane Storm battled in the Chikara Mega Thunderdome. What I expected to be a technically sound match turned into a brawl at ringside area and on the stage. Quack eventually won the match, but in the end it was Storm who walked away with the victory after a reversed decision. Storm now has a tarnished victory over his trainer, and there is only one way to settle this little dilemma. At All That Glitters, Mike Quackenbush will take on Shane Storm in a rematch.

The Olsen Twins, Colin and Jimmy Olsen, were the Feel Good Tag Team of the Decade. That was until Colin Olsen left Jimmy Olsen hanging dry for a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. Since then, Jimmy Olsen has been going on his own down the only road he’s ever known. Partner less, and bitter, Jimmy has made it a hobby to torture the masked luchadors on the Chikara Roster. Back at Young Lions Cup, Jimmy Olsen pulled the mask off of Lince Dorado and just last month he pulled Ultimo Breakfast’s mask off. Fresh off a loss, Fire Ant is set to take on Jimmy Olsen at All That Glitters.

Lince Dorado took quite the beating from Eddie Kingston at Tragedy and Triumph. After a Backfist to the Future, Kingston put Dorado away for the three-count and started walking to the back. Dorado started to beg Kingston to come back down and fight him again. At Vanity and Violence, Lince Dorado will get his wish; Eddie Kingston vs. Lince Dorado II.

Bobby Dempsey and Sara Del Ray are set to make their Chikara return at Vanity and Violence against Buck Hawke and Mitch Ryder. Dempsey and Del Ray currently have two points together and if they are to beat The Fabulous Two, they will get a shot at becoming the Campeones de Parejas.

Speaking of the Campeones de Parejas, Incoherence will also be in action at Vanity and Violence. They will be teaming up with “Double C” Claudio Castagnoli to take on The Osirian Portal and “Big Rig” Brodie Lee.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla News as of 7.30.2008

All Star Weekend is the time of year when the biggest independent wrestling names gather around for a weekend of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla fun. There’s an unexpected, and most likely unheard of, import from Australia coming to All Star Weekend 7. Straight out of PWA Queensland School, Ash Riot and Mark Davis will make their PWG Debut at the star studded weekend. While guys like Eddie Kingston and Jimmy Jacobs have already solidified themselves as “All Stars” in PWG, Ash and Mark just want to be accepted by the PWG crowd.

You’ve seen him on TNA Impact during the World X Cup Tournament, and he’s coming to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to stir things up a bit. Alex Koslov, who started his career in SoCal, is set to return to PWG at All Star Weekend 7. But he’s not the only star making his return, oh no. After a seven month hiatus, Rocky Romero will appear at All Star Weekend 7. Is Romero’s return to PWG going to be a happy go lucky one? Or will he target Chris Hero’s PWG World Title?

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla All Star Weekend 7 (August 30th and 31st Reseda, California)
Announced: PWG World Champion Chris Hero, PWG World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black, Eddie Kingston, Chuck Taylor, Vin Gerard, PAC, Ash Riot, Mark Davis, Susumu Yokosuka, Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero.

The Closer for this week will be delayed. It was supposed to be the second part of “History of the Campeonatos de Parejas”, but my DVD of the title match never came in the mail.

Until next time, I’m Kirschner. And you’re outta here.
