What's Playing 08/01/08

Not much opening up this weekend which is our first of August. The third chapter of The Mummy is wrapping its way into theatres along with Kevin Costner, whose vote is more important then anyone else’s in the country. If you’re lucky enough to live in an area where limited releases come out, then be sure to check out Midnight Meat Train because its sure to be a scream. Of course, if all else fails…there’s always The Dark Knight!

Wide Release

The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor – Starring Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello, John Hannah, Luke Ford, and more. In the Far East, trouble-seeking father-and-son duo Rick and Alex O’Connell unearth the mummy of the first Emperor of Qin who just so happens to be a shape-shifting entity who was cursed by a wizard centuries ago. Go back in time for the ride of a lifetime in this second sequel to 1999’s The Mummy.

Midnight Meat Train – Starring Vinnie Jones, Ted Raimi, Bradley Cooper, and more. When Leon Kaufman’s latest body of work earns interest from prominent art gallery owner Susan Hoff, she propels him to get grittier and show the darker side of humanity for his upcoming debut at her downtown art space. Believing he’s finally on track for success, Leon’s obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer, Mahogany, the subway murderer who stalks late-night commuters–ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways imaginable. Base on Clive Barker’s short story.
