News on Scrubs, Camp Rock, and…Quark (WTF?)

Disc Announcements, News

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced Scrubs: The Complete Seventh Season which stars Zach Braff, John C. McGinley and Sarah Chalke. The 2-disc set will be available to own on November 11th, and should have a MSRP of $29.99. All 11 episodes will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks. Extras will include audio commentaries, deleted scenes, alternate lines, bloopers, a One-On-One With Ken Jenkins, a My Making of II: “My Princess” featurette, and an easter egg (“Just A Other Typical Day In the Scrubs Elevator”).

Those who can’t get enough of Jonas Brothers will get plenty with Camp Rock: Extended Rock Star Edition. WDSHE announced that the TV movie, which also stars Demi Lovato, will be available to own on August 19th and go for $29.99. Special features include featurettes (Jonas Brothers: Real Life Rock Stars, Introducing Demi Lovato, From Rehearsal to Final Jam: “Hasta La Vista”, Setting the Stage for “Too Cool”), music videos, a sing-along mode, and more. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $34.99 with all of the above, plus The Camp Rock Set Tours with a special appearance by Joe Jonas.

Just like the studio did with What’s Happening? and Soap, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is planning a number of series sets for many of its comedy properties. On October 28th, all six seasons of Good Times (17 discs total) will be grouped together in a package retailing for $59.95. The packaging will resemble the packaging found in the two aforementioned sets. Also on October 28th are collections for Sanford and Son and Newsradio. Again, both sets will retail for $59.95.

To go along with those series collections, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has also announced that the short-lived 1978 series Quark will see the light of day on DVD on October 14th. This campy Sci-Fi comedy, created by Get Smart co-creator Buck Henry, stars Richard Benjamin and Tim Thomerson. All eight episodes are included, plus two minisodes from I Dream of Jeannie and Fantasy Island. Quark should set you back $19.94.

Finally, on November 11th, Warner Bros. will bring its epic miniseries Band of Brothers to Blu-ray. Running 705 minutes, all 10 episodes have been remastered at high definition 1080p resolution with DTS audio. The six discs will be contained in a tin box package that mirrors the original DVD release. But unlike that DVD set, the Blu-ray release will contain a number of features that are special to this set alone. Extras like PIP commentary by the surviving members of East Company and an interactive field guide, with timelines, maps, and soldier profiles. SRP for this bad boy is $99.98.
