Invasion 1986

Part 2 – May-June, 1986

-WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event (May, 1986)-

The fans in Providence have just been horrified by the acts of Jake “The Snake” Roberts and his attack on Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat before their scheduled match against each other. As Steamboat is tended to at ringside and Roberts departs, the Hart Foundation arrive, along with Jimmy Hart.

Vince: And here come the Hart Foundation! What’s the meaning of this?

Jesse: What do you mean, McMahon??? They’re…

Vince: We’re supposed to have the Tag Team title match up next!

Jesse: And these men should be challenging the Bulldogs for those belts! If not tonight, then definetly soon!

In the ring, Jimmy Hart has the microphone.

Jimmy: We wanna issue a challenge, baby! We wanna issue a challenge to every tag team here tonight! My Hart Foundation stood up for the World Wrestling Federation and we deserve a shot at those belts!

Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart look towards the aisle, waiting for a tag team to show up.

Jimmy: C’mon, baby! We’re waiting! Killer Bees! Rougeaus! Any team that’s here tonight, come on down!

The crowd begins to build with excitement as two men hop the guard rail, out of sight of the tag team waiting in the ring.

Jesse: Hey, what the!!!

Vince: Jesse Ventura, it’s…!

Jesse: Don’t say their names, McMahon! They shouldn’t be here!

Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the Rock N’ Roll Express slide in the ring, causing Jimmy Hart to scream, throwing down the mic and warning his team to turn around. As soon as the Hart Foundation does, they are met with dropkicks, knocking them through the ropes and sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Jesse: This isn’t right, McMahon! We need somebody to arrest those goofs!

Vince: The Hart Foundation issued a challenge to any team, Jesse!

Jesse: Any W.W.F. team, you idiot!!!

Enraged, Bret and Jim climb up to the apron, only for WWF officials to pull them down. Police officers do arrive in the ring to lead Ricky and Robert out. The crowd begins to boo, upset that the confrontation has been halted against their wishes.

Jesse: Jack Tunney, if you’re listening, I am DEMANDING that you do something about this!!!

Vince: I have no doubt, Jesse Ventura that the President of the World Wrestling Federation will have something to say…

Jesse: Say???

-WWF Championship Wrestling (May, 1986)-

It is a new day in World Wrestling Federation. The infamous interview segment, the Piper’s Pit has been replaced in its host, Roddy Piper’s absence. In its place is a new segment called the Flower Shop, hosted by the, “Adorable” Adrian Adonis.

Adrian: My guest…

The crowd boos.

Adrian: …Is the one and only…Jimmy Hart!

The crowd boos further as Jimmy arrives. He is Adrian’s manager and the two exchange in a hug that makes the audience uncomfortable.

Adrian: Now Jimmy…not only are you the greatest manager in wrestling…you manage me, the Adorable One!

The crowd continues booing.

Adrian: But you also manage a very successful tag team, the Hart Foundation.

Jimmy: That’s right, baby the Hart Foundation! Bret, “The Hitman,” Hart! Jim, “The Anvil,” Neidhart! And they are being denied a shot at the W.W.F. Tag titles by that no good President, Jack Tunney! And it’s all because of a couple of no names from another ‘rasslin’ organization! Well I tell you what, No Name Express! You wanna come up to the World Wrestlin’ Federation and mess with Jimmy Hart, baby… We know where you’re from! And my Hart Foundation knows how to get there! You wanna embarrass us, well the Hart Family’s gonna embarrass you!

-The Interim (May-June, 1986)-

The Rock N’ Roll Express are conspicuously absent from television. Still suspended by the NWA and under no deals elsewhere. The Hart Foundation meanwhile go through preliminary competition, sending out vague warnings after each match.

-NWA World Wide Wrestling (June, 1986)-

David Crockett stands at the host section, with an excited smile on his face.

David: Ladies and gentlemen, you wanted ’em back and now…just reinstated, Ricky and Robert, the Rock N’ Roll Express!

The fans scream in admiration as the Rock N’ Roll Express enter the arena, making their way to David. They shake hands with David as the interview begins.

Ricky: Daddy, it is great to be back! Here with Jim Crockett Promotions and the great the fans of the N.W.A! Weeoooo!!! We took a trip up North and we proved our point that we’re the best tag team! We heard these boys run their mouths about great they are and we dropkicked ’em out of their own ring, jack! So Midnight Express! Jimmy Cornette! We want a shot at those belts! We want those N.W.A. tag team titles back! And baby, we’re gonna get ’em.

-NWA Mid Atlantic Wrestling (June, 1986)-

It is one of the last shows televised before the annual Great American Bash tour is to begin. Standing in the ring, ready to face each other in battle are George South and NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion, Denny Brown. The match is underway as Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver call the action. The action in the ring is soon interrupted however with what appears to be movement in the crowd.

Bob: Aaaand a hip toss by Brown!

Johnny: South is back up!

Bob: And there’s the dropkick by the Junior Heavyweight Champ…wait a minute…

Wearing street clothes and their black leather jackets, Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart hop over the small guardrail and roll into the ring.

Bob: A couple of gentlemen have just entered the ring and they’re attacking Denny Brown!!!

A groggy George South slumps to a corner, confused at seeing the Hart Foundation attack his opponent, laying him out with the Hart Attack. Shaking his head, George hears the roar of the shocked crowd and the constant ringing of the bell at ringside. Neither compare to the sight of two angry men walking towards him. He puts up his hands, but it is of little use as he stomped on and forced to his feet by Bret and Jim. Double whip to the ropes, Jim catches George on the rebound with a bearhug and is then met with a devastating lariat from Bret, completing the Hart Attack. Both Denny and George are down as the Hart Foundation raise their arms in victory. Suddenly, the locker room empties as various face and preliminary wrestlers alike charge the ring, causing the Hart Foundation to leave through the crowd.

The Great American Bash is upon us, but will the Hart Foundation and Rock N’ Roll Express finally do battle? Time will tell.
