DISNEY-ABC TELEVISION GROUP UNVEILS DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT SOAPNET.COM
TO DELIVER USERS THEIR DAILY DOSE OF STARS, STYLE & TV DRAMA

Dedicated to expanding its network and channel brands across multiple platforms and connecting viewers with their favorite shows anytime and anywhere, Disney-ABC Television Group announced today a completely redesigned SOAPnet.com, the new home of celebrity and TV drama. In addition to covering the world of daytime, the new site, which launched today in a beta version, expands its focus to include coverage of entertainment, stars, pop culture, beauty and fashion news in an informed, engaging editorial style.

In making the announcement, Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group, said: “We have the unique ability to look at our world through a ‘soapy’ filter, so it is perfectly fitting that the new SOAPnet.com is expanding beyond daytime soaps. The site’s bold new direction, encompassing the drama of daytime, primetime and real-life soap operas, truly takes us to a new level and enables us to provide users with a one-stop destination where they can indulge their passion for television drama, celebrity life, glamour and style.”

As part of the site’s new direction, SOAPnet.com has created the SOAPnet Premium Publisher Network, a comprehensive online advertising and content integration network of sites with a focus on entertainment, celebrity, beauty and fashion to increase traffic and maximize advertising revenue. Participating sites will be provided access to premium content from SOAPnet.com and will also have an opportunity for their content to be integrated into SOAPnet’s site. To date approximately 45 sites are a part of the network.

“With the launch of the SOAPnet Premium Publisher Network, we are offering high-quality, third-party publishers an exciting opportunity to showcase their sites and expose their editorial to a much larger, extremely loyal audience,” said KC Estenson, vice president, Digital Media, Disney-ABC Cable Networks. “We are also excited to be able to provide marketers with the ability to be a part of the ‘long tail’ and expand their reach, while having the certainty that their brands and advertising messages will be treated with the utmost integrity.”

In addition to daily celebrity drama, the site will be a go-to for all daytime and primetime drama news. With industry-insider access, SOAPnet.com will serve up entertainment scoops as well as be a destination for the TV-obsessive who can’t get enough of their shows and stars. The site will offer comprehensive recaps and photo galleries related to all daytime dramas and dozens of primetime series across all major networks.

The redesigned site offers a more diverse user experience with such features as:

• Galleries dedicated to shows, stars and style covering the latest Hollywood headlines, happenings and trends, from recent show storylines to the latest red carpet wardrobe picks.
• Expanded original video offerings with the latest news about Hollywood’s most intriguing dramas on and off TV
• Interactive community functions including editorial commenting, friending, polls, message boards, RSS feeds and newsletters

This announcement is part of the Disney-ABC Television Group’s overall Digital Media multiplatform business initiative and demonstrates the Group’s ongoing commitment to launching new digital products and working with strategic partners in the digital media space to make its high-quality, informative and entertaining content available to consumers whenever and wherever they choose.

SOAPnet offers same-day episodes of popular daytime dramas including “All My Children,” “Days of our Lives,” “One Life to Live,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” at night for convenient viewing.
