Proof that a trailer and good marketing campaign can get any Tom, Dick and Harry to see an M. Night movie, this summer’s The Happening will find its way to DVD just in time for Halloween. Fox Home Entertainment has announced an October 7th release date for both the single-disc DVD and the Blu-ray, which comes with a digital copy. The film, starring Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel, has the following features on the DVD release. Five featurettes (The Hard Cut, I Hear You Whispering, A Day for Night, Elements of a Scene, and Visions of The Happening: A Making Of), deleted scenes and a gag reel.

The BD release will include those same features found on the DVD as well as a few more: three featurettes (The Hard ‘R’, Train Shooting, and Forces Unseen) and scene specific PIP.

The third installment of the successful direct-to-DVD Futurama movies comes to DVD (and for the first time on Blu-ray) on November 4th. Titled Futurama: Bender’s Game, the feature takes place in a medieval land of dragons and sorcery and intoxicated knights who look suspiciously like Bender. Extras include: group commentary by creators and voice actors, Storyboard Animatic, “Futurama Genetics Lab”, three featurettes (Dungeons & Dragons & Futurama, How to Draw “Futurama” in 83 Easy Steps, and 3D Models with Animator Discussion), deleted scene, Blooperama 2, Bender’s Anti-Piracy Warning, and a sneak peak at the next “Futurama” epic: Into the Wild Green Yonder.

The Futurama: Bender’s Game BD release includes the widescreen version of the film and all of the above standard definition special features plus Picture-in-Picture capabilities. The disc will be authored in BD-J with AVC (MPEG 4) compression and presented on 50 GB dual-layer disc with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio plus English, French, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese subtitles.

In another direct-to-DVD sequel from the studio that brought us Wrong Turn 2, comes Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead. Arriving October 7th, the DVD will be presented in widescreen format (1.85:1 aspect ratio) with English 5.1 Dolby Surround Bonus content includes: two featurettes Joy Ride 2: The Making of Dead Ahead and Blood and Guts: The “Make-Up” of Horror) and a Storyboard-to-Scene comparison.

Fox has also announced a Blu-ray for Daredevil: Director’s Cut. It will be released September 30th.

In celebrating the 45th anniversary of the original Outer Limits TV program, MGM Home Entertainment has announced a seven-disc collection containing all 49 episodes. The episodes will be on seven double-sided discs for a SRP of $59.98. No special features are to be included.

MGM has also announced Blu-ray releases of two horror classics: Carrie and The Amityville Horror. Both will be available on October 7th with MSRPs of $39.98.
