WWE DotCom Delivery – Week of 08.09.08

With Matt Striker making his ECW commentating debut this week and Miz & Morrison taking The Dirt Sheet to TV, what’s left for them on-line? Stick around and find out.

On OMG Moment of the Week Joey Styles takes us back to the days when (The) Tazz was a wrestler and only had one Z. Taz was facing Rhino (no Y) for the ECW championship in Chicago, and as was custom in the old ECW (I can’t call it good old ECW), tables were in play. A Tazplex through a table may not seem like a big deal today, and you know what? I’m not sure it warranted an “Oh My God even back then, considering everything else that was going on in ECW. After that it only took 2 seconds of the tazmission for Rhino to give up. Nice spot, nothing special.

Cryme Tyme’s word of the week on Word Up is JANKY. That’s a term used to describe something or someone of poor quality (Combination of junk and skanky). Did you know the Flava Flav is janky? According to Shad and JTG he is. It’s also used to describe people who aren’t “keeping it real” and they show a bunch of women who had too much work done and I don’t recognize as examples of “Janky”. Until they call Amy Winehouse “janky” and a “hood rat” and that’s something I just can’t accept. Janky is also a verb, as you can jankify or dejankify someone. Good to know.

Matt Striker was rather tamed on ECW this week, and he pretty much remained that way on Best WWEek, Worst WWEek. John Meyer had the best week for shacking up with Jennifer Aniston (What is it, 1995?). By the way, did you know that Striker plays the guitar? Did you care? As for worst week – this week the title goes to Lance Armstrong who split up with Kate Hudson. This leads to Striker trying to win Hudson’s heart by declaring himself the world’s most unselfish lover. And a Queen fan. Too much information. This whole episode felt like a gossip column on E, and that’s not a good thing.

But you can usually count on Santino’s Casa to deliver the goods. He continues Striker’s gossip theme by talking about the bambinos of Brangelina and the millions that People Magazine paid for them. Santino is certain that pictures of his own babies’ would be worth at least twice as much. Cue pictures of the future offsprings of Santino and the Glamazon. Santino moves to discuss the culinary aspects of the Beijing Olympics, not doing much to wet my appetite. Santino then finishes by giving Brett Favre some much needed career advice. I’d listen to Santino if I were him.

Two Dirt Sheets in one week? It’s like Christmas. After taking their show on the road this past Tuesday, John Morrison and The Miz bring us the regular weekend edition of The Dirt Sheet. BTW< this week’s episode was preceded by an ad for Trojan Condoms. Are they trying to deliver a message to the chick magnet and the Shaman of Sexy? After a recap of the live Dirt Sheet from ECW, Miz has an interview with Jenny McCarthy, which cheated Morrison out of. McCarthy talks about Generation Rescue before telling the truth about Miz’s abs. Ouch. This week’s edition ranks very low on Dirt Sheets standards, but we can forgive them this one time lapse.

And to cap it all of, Josh Mathews brings us his Weekly Top Five. An Adamle original is at number five, with JBL & Y2J who faced off against CM Punk in a handicapped match. I’d put that match even higher simply for the fact that for the first time, at least as far as I can remember, we’ve seen Jericho in short tights rather than the long ones he’s been wearing. The arm wrestling match between Triple H and Khali, with its aftermath, is in fourth place. Miz & Morrison make it number three with their live Dirt Sheet. At least they’re one the list, if they can’t make it to a higher spot. The top two spots seem like a carbon copy of last week’s WTF. SmackDown’s main event angle, featuring Edge, is at number two and Raw’s main event match, featuring Batista and John Cena is at number one. And just like last week, I would have changed the order because Edge is consistently awesome while the Cena/Batista thing is a bit underwhelming.

That was DotCom’s week in a nutshell. With the road to SummerSlam reaching the final stretch, next week should be even bigger and DotCom will probably reflect that. In the mean time, you can watch all those shows, including archived episodes, on http://www.wwe.com/broadband/.
