I was on vacation last week. I guess it was silly to start this whole thing in the summer when I’m away as often as I’m home.
1) As I’ve been away for a bit, I don’t really know how people are reacting to Adamle. I’m not sure how this goofy, clueless GM thing is going but, in an odd way, it’s a good change. Rather than either a good guy or a bad guy GM, maybe we can just have a GM who’s kinda dumb and easily manipulated by people. I’m ok with this.
2) Was it bad that the second the Dibiase/Rhodes vs. Batista/Cena rematch was announced that I had the New Evolution formation booked in my head while at the same time telling myself there was no way it was going to happen. I even assumed the whole Orton injury thing was a work.
3) I usually have very little bad to say about the WWE Music department… but I don’t understand the change to Crime Time’s music. They went from the very catchy and catchphrasy “Brooklyn. Brooklyn” to some weird radio announcer voice thing that doesn’t make near as much sense. The old opening fits the team’s entire theme better and gives the same “time to pop” audio cue.
4) By the way, I haven’t seen anything on Smackdown in the last couple of weeks due to traveling, but I did see some highlights. Great, GREAT promo work by Edge, Foley, and Vicky to build up this Hell in the Cell match. Just great work all around by everyone, including the writers coming up with the “Edge takes out everyone in the family” gimmick. I guess Edge’s face turn is either being accelerated or this is all just one giant Mindf*ck for the Undertaker.
5) One of the more underrated aspects of JBL’s character is his embodiment of Vince McMahon’s attitude. Defined in this line: “You made your name in some no name independent league in Chicago and they put you in ECW so they could find someone who didn’t cut their teeth in a bingo hall.” I can see Vince McMahon saying this and I love that JBL’s character communicates all of this.
6) If they’ve decided that Chris Jericho isn’t Y2J anymore, they may want to change his entrance video which still refers to him as Y2J. Just a thought. A change in music might possibly be in order, too as a) the whole “countdown” theme in his music really doesn’t fit anymore and 2) he’s been using it for 8 years.
7) I had to rewind a part of the show three times to understand what Michael Cole said “Kane is at peace with himself because he… is dead.” Four times I thought he said “because he…. is gay.” You know those moments in movies when the record needle scratches and everything stops? I had one of those in my head. I thought an AWFUL lot happened on Raw last week that I missed. It happened again when he pulled Mysterio’s mask out of the bag but I’m rather certain that was intended.
8) I love Regal… he’s one of my favorite wrestlers in the federation… but his new ring attire looks ridiculous. The weird not-tank-top/not-basketball-jersey thing is weird looking. Just go back to the singlet.
9) There’s not much funnier then five across the eyes as a tag.
10) I’m glad Rhodes and Dibiase won the belts back. It was the right thing to do. Good use of security to the ring so one can use the “X laid out Y on Raw so obviously Y beats X at the PPV.” There was really no reason for Batista/Cena to ever win the tag titles in the first place.

Good show. I’m pretty pumped for almost everything on the Summerslam card. I am, however, negative pumped for pointless Khali/HHH.
