Make Movement: Angle Steals The Show

Columns

When TNA allows their talent to wrestle without being over gimmicky or dependent on hip hop, they can put on some great matches. Kurt Angle and AJ Styles without question was the match of the night if not one of the best matches of any federation in the last year. They put on a classic Last Man Standing match, pulled off some amazing and dangerous spots and proved why they were the main event and not the Samoa Joe/Booker T match.

Daivari is back and is continuing what he’s famous for, his anti-American character, except it’s a way more complicated name and I wish wrestling would let him be from Detroit and not go in this direction right now.

Beautiful People and Awesome Kong vs. ODB, Gail Kim, and Taylor Wilde was solid and I find it heartbreaking that WWE cannot put on a solid women’s division, TNA has had this solid for a long time now. Instead, Mickie and Beth are having to do work with intergender matches instead of building solid storylines like it used to happen when Trish Stratus was a active wrestler.

Congrats to Beer Money for their tag team championship win against Homicide and Hernandez, I think Beer Money will gain some good solid old fashion tag team heel heat with their win. Once again, when the WWE acts like they have a tag team division when it’s not much of one, is sad. You can’t fool the audience, having Cody Rhodes/DiBiase Jr., Cryme Tyme, a brief alliance of Cena/Batista and The Highlanders (I guess they are back?) doesn’t constitute a division.

No one cared about the sloppy Sonjay Dutt vs. Jay Lethal tux and chains match. That was baddddd. Team 3-D vs. Christian Cage and Rhino was just another reason to have a ECW style match in NJ on a TNA PPV, nothing more, nothing less.

The final match with Booker T and Samoa Joe was overshadowed by Angle/Styles (they could have stopped the PPV right there and ended it on a strong wrestling note) and the mysterious guitar. Jeff Jarrett back in the world championship picture? I’m dreading it.
