WWE DotCom Delivery – Week of 8/16/08

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, Webshows

It’s SummerSlam weekend, the biggest event of the summer. Surprisingly wwe.com doesn’t seem to care.

OMG Moment of the Week treats us to a true gem this week. Steve Austin, before he was Stone Cold, giving one of the best Hulk Hogan impressions ever, complete with red tights and a yellow “Stevamania” t-shirt. The only downside – it’s “child proof” with certain words bleeped out. Why oh why would you bleep it out on the internet? WHY? Anyway, way better than any high spot or hardcore move they could have put on this show.

On Cryme Tyme’s Word Up we learn this week’s word, which is LUNCHIN’, meaning to act stupid or crazy, or an abbreviation of “Out to lunch”. In the WWE, for example, Simply Priceless are lunchin’ because they try to front on Cryme Tyme. But then JTG and Shad have to cut the show short because all this talk about lunchin’ send them to the closest chicken & waffle place for lunch. Because that’s what this tag team needed, more stereotypes.

Matt Striker may have found a permanent seat at the ECW announcing desk, but he still has time to present Best WWEek, Worst WWEek. Even though Striker calls Santino Marella a self-delusional spicy meatball and a punchline of man, Striker must admit that Santino is having the best wweek, thanks to his relationship with Beth Phoenix. Can’t argue with him. Of course Striker is jealous, but that’s another thing. And since everything is balanced, so Beth is having the worst wweek, thanks to her relationship with Santino Marella. Yes, Striker is definitely jealous.

And that segment provided the perfect transition to Santino’s Casa. This week Santino guarantees that he and the glamorous amazon will win gold at SummerSlam. He even calls Ms. Cleo (In Kofi Kingston’s native land of Jamaica, no less) who predicts victory for Glamarella. Well, you can take that to the bank. Santino then reminds us of some embarrassing wrestler outfits through the years, including the original Faarooq Asad. To close this week’s show, Santino shows some empathy to John Edwards, until someone makes a cameo to remind all of use who’s wearing the pants in casa.

Despite losing to Matt Hardy and Mark Henry earlier this week, Miz & Morrison show they’re professionals and deliver a new Dirt Sheet. This week’s show present highlights from WWE SummerFest at Venice Beach. They encourage people to register to vote but remind us that if you’re voting for McCain, you suck. Hey, it’s their words. They also share their experience from a party at the Playboy mansion, showing us who are the losers that couldn’t get in (yes, Santino is there too). They also show us that they are nice people by taking the time to talk to a regular, average man about his weekend. They’re such good people. And to finish things off – MISTER FUJI!!!

And to finish the week, Josh Mathews is here with the Weekly Top Five. Triple H’s performance on SmackDown and his confrontation with Khali takes number 5. JBL’s drinking challenge to CM Punk is at number 4. Who would have ever thought that the ECW champion would ever rank higher than either Raw or SmackDown’s champs but surprise surprise – this week it happens, the tag team match between Hardy/Henry and Miz/Morrison is at number 3. For the third week in a row Edge is at number 2 with his show stealing performance. EDGE DESERVES BETTER!!! The pattern continues as Cena and Batista occupy WTF’s first place, again for the third week in a row.

It’s really weird that they didn’t use the DotCom shows to hype SummerSlam more. Other than WTF and the Santino references, there was hardly any mention of SummerSlam. I think it’s a shame. See you next week, with the post SummerSlam DotCom Delivery.
