10 Thoughts On ECW – 08.19.2008

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

01. Man I love me some Mark Henry. He’s like an evil jolly black Santa Claus with an ever infectious laugh. When Mark Henry laughs at you getting your ass kicked, I laugh at you getting your ass kicked.

02. God. Super Crazy looked pregnant out there. And no. That black shirt under his ECW tank top didn’t hide shit. Congrats and here is hoping to a healthy baby boy… and then dude pulled out the craziest plancha I’ve seen this side of Davey Richards at Final Battle 2007. And on free TV! Easily my favorite match of the week.

03. Man Evan Bourne is really making the most out of his stay in ECW. Guy looks like a genuine superstar and I could easily see him being the guy that finally takes Henry out of the title scene. He is easily the best wrestler on ECW and everyone should tune in weekly to see him do his thing.

04. Mike Knox sucks. Bearded lumberjack Mike Knox sucks more. I hope when he’s out in the woods cutting down trees, he trips and falls face first into a bear trap.

05. Tony Atlas makes for a great manager and it’s good to see someone on the side who isn’t annoying as hell…. see Vicky Guerrero.

06. I totally love this new youth thing the WWE is doing. Put Cabana on ECW and push him to the stars because he would totally earn his keep.

07. ECW themes are almost as bad… no they’re just as bad as TNA themes. Generic crap rock. The only good theme I heard on the show was Matt Hardy’s. How are you going to get the audience to care about someone when you don’t put any effort into creating a memorable entrance theme? The audience picks up on these things.

08. I couldn’t believe it but the audience totally broke into an ECW chant during the opening match. It’s quite rare to hear that.

09. Ricky Ortiz is a goofy looking guy but he has that simmer of charisma that I think could go a long way if the ‘E’ uses him right.

10. Todd Grisham totally needs to go. He is like a youthful Michael Cole and no one needs that. Bring in a European announcer to give the broadcast a truly international feel and to break from the feeling of sameness when it comes to ring announcers.
