– Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports reports that new EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva tested positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid. Silva won the EliteXC heavyweight championship on July 26 over Justin Eilers and has been a major building block of EliteXC’s development. Silva will likely be stripped of the title now as he was suspended for one year by the California Athletic Commission.

– From MMAWeekly.com, Jake Shields will defend his EliteXC welterweight title against Paul Daley on the October 4th CBS show. Daley is the Cage Rage welterweight champion. The fight has been verbally confirmed by both fighters but the contract has yet to be signed. No other matches have been announced for the October 4th show but Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano will both have fights against yet to be named opponents.

– EliteXC was hoping to put the hyped KJ Noons vs. Nick Diaz bout on the October 4th CBS card but that seems to be falling apart, according to Dave Meltzer’s notebook on Yahoo! Sports. KJ Noons defeated Nick Diaz last year and an attempt to set up a rematch after Noons’ win over Yves Edwards turned ugly in the cage. EliteXC matchmaker Jared Shaw says negotiations fell apart because he can’t get in contact with Noons.

MMAWeekly.com is also reporting a title match at ShoXC on Sept. 26. Wilson Reis and Bao Quach will compete for the newly formed EliteXC Bantamweight Title. The bantamweight division will carry a 140 lb weight limit. The fight will be aired on Showtime and will also feature Shane Del Rossario vs. Jon Murphy and Erik Apple vs. Matt Makowski.
