The Hills – Episode 4-3 Review

Wow, Lauren and her guys. We start off the episode with Lauren and Whitney talking about Doug, the guy she’s been seeing and the guy she’s doesn’t really like. She says she doesn’t want to settle. Come on, Lauren, we all know you still want Brody.

Lauren meets up with Stephanie at school and they talk about he who should not be named (aka Spencer). He’s still pissed at his sister for inviting Lauren to her birthday party. Dude, get over it. “I regret not throwing the cake in LC’s face.” Well, okay, that would have made for great television. But still, he spends way too much time on his hatred toward Lauren, or “LC” as he calls her. What else does he do with his time?

Heidi misses Stephanie and in a moment of…well, insanity, she tells Spencer she just might hang out with Steph and Lauren. Yeah, I’m sure Lauren will be up for that. “Don’t come home to me then,” says baby Spencer.

Whitney, probably the only sane one on this show, is off to New York with People’s Revolution. It’s there she gets set up on a date (by her bitchy boss mind you) with a hot model. He’s a smooth talker that guy. Let’s hope he doesn’t screw her over. She’s too nice! I mean, I think I’d pay to see that girl just go off on someone. It’s just not in her blood.

Anyway, Lauren and Brody meet up for a little dinner date. I swear these two are the same person. If they both didn’t like their freedom so much, they’d probably make for a decent couple. It’s obvious Lauren still has feelings for him. “My type is someone I already dated,” she says. Hmm…I wonder who she could be talking about.

Stephanie stops by Spencer and Heidi’s to drop off a little peace offering. Being his stubborn and immature  self, he doesn’t want it. He eventually obliges and opens it to find a book about the CIA. Okay, totally random, but I guess it’s good to know he does something other than pose for fake photo opps and hate on “LC.”

Lauren eventually gets up the courage to break it off with Doug. This scene was so chopped up that I was totally confused by the guy’s reaction. At first, he seemed to act childish and said it “hit him with a ton of bricks.” Meanwhile, two seconds later,Lauren thanks him for being so cool about it and he says, “It’s all good.” Yeah, the magic of editing.

So Audrina was M.I.A this episode, probably off with Justin Bobby or her faux-rocker friends. Lo was also missing and I don’t think anyone is complaining about that. What happened to that girl? She was so sweet, albeit a little annoying, on Laguna Beach. Now, she just comes off as bitchy all the time. It’s a tough life living in Lauren’s shadow.

While it had its moments, the episode didn’t further much of the “plot.” We didn’t learn anything knew and we didn’t get the typical Hills drama we all secretly watch for. But…

Good news! This Sunday, a new episode premieres right before the Video Music Awards and it’s going to be a good one! Brody and Doug apparently get arrested, Lauren and Audrina are fighting and Brody goes after Stephanie’s motives while in Vegas. Bring it on!
