A Moment's All I Ask – 9.12.08

Top Story

The top story of the VMAs this year was Britney Spears, and only for the right reasons this time. She is back in her healthy form, looking balanced and happy, and I’m honestly thrilled that she’s back. She swept the awards after not winning in the past and I hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Another performer that really shined was the extremely talented Christina Aguilera, who continues to experiment with her look and her sound, post-baby, and was off-the-charts hot in her Catwoman-like outfit. Not to mention that I’m excited about her new single, “Keeps Gettin’ Better”.

P!nk performed her rocking new song, “So What” (one of my favorites this year), which is making a big impact on all the charts right now. The performance was well done and taps into P!nk’s performance style perfectly. Her new album will go number one next month.

Since I wasn’t able to see the show live, I DVR’d it, which gave me the luxury of completely fast-forwarding through Russell Brand’s antics and The Jonas Brothers. I subscribe to the Chelsea Handler method in regards to The Jonas Brothers.

Not enough Katy Perry tonight, and I’m still pissed that her “I Kissed A Girl” video was so lame. It was a badly-produced video—how can you have a video about kissing a girl and liking it, and not even pushing that?

I heart the Pussycat Dolls, as I’ve heard that they are some of the most down-to-earth big stars out there today. I’m more interested in Paramore thanks to their performance, and I love Kid Rock for keeping it real.

There was pretty much no shock value to this show unless you count Britney not being controversial this year and small Russell Brand vs. Jordin Sparks/Jonas Brothers hubbub.
