Top Story

A surprising amount of new films are coming out in this, the second week of September. You can take in another great act from the Coen brothers, learn what it’s like to be all kinds of American, witness De Niro and Pacino on the same side of the law, experience another title from Tyler Perry, or sit back and watch almost every female actress to ever appear on screen. Have a fun weekend at the movies folks, and try not to get caught in Hurricane Ike like I probably will.

Wide Release

Burn After Reading – Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, and more. Make way for another brilliant creation from the minds of the Coen Brothers. Proud American – Tolerance, freedom, education and personal responsibility, the pillars that make America a truly grand society. The film is an emotional, inspirational, and visual journey depicting America and the everyday Americans who exemplify the best that we can be.

Righteous Kill – Starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, 50 Cent, Carla Cugino, and more. After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question; did they put the wrong man behind bars?

Scott “Kubryk” Sawitz caught an early screening of the film here.
