Ghost Hunters – Episode 4-15 Review

Shows

Tonight the team is on to another brand new investigation as they head off to an old style, turn of the century home where a decapitated woman is said to still haunt the grounds. Infidelity caused her to lose her head back in 1780 thanks to a broad axe. That may have caused her to leave the household then, but she may not have left for good. This week the team stays in Rhode Island to check out two local haunts.

The Briefing

A team of Jay, Grant, Kris, Tango, Steve, and sometimer Joe Chin are together for a trip that isn’t going to be too far for them. They are heading to the Slater Mill in Pawtucket, Rhode Island which is hardly a long drive for them. Believe it or not, they’ll actually be able to sleep in their own beds during the investigation. It is a beautiful looking old mill with tons of machinery and right on the Blackstone River.

The Slater Mill was the first water-powered factory and it opened in 1793 with mostly children helming the workload because they were the only one small enough to operate the machines. Many of them got injured and a number died. Director of Operations Cheryl tells the team of machines turning on by themselves, the water wheel turning randomly, hot spots in the winter, cold spots in July, and motion sensors going off due to someone walking around upstairs when no-one is there. Seems like some ordinary stuff so let’s get rolling.

The Investigation

Steve sets up cameras on the water wheel (which is in a second building called the Wilkinson Mill), in the attic, in the main building on the machine floor, and on the top floor.

Jay and Grant head to the water wheel first and quickly debunk it realizing water can come through and push it. Nuff’ said. But then they decide to do some EMF and K2 work and my God. The lights on the K2 flash almost immediately and Grant begins asking questions.

“Are you a man?” – No

“Are you a young boy?” – Yes

“Are you older then five? Older then eight? Are you nine?” – Yes

He answered that he was from the Central Falls are nearby and he liked working in the mill. The kid even lit the K2 meter up and kept it lit when asked to do so. Oddly enough, Grant asked him the questions again in different words and answered them all the same. This is a phenomenal sequence of events.

Tango and Steve are on the main floor and Tango goes to turn a machine on to see how easy it is to happen. Steve proceeds to scare the hell out of him. Nice.

Jay and Grant now on the main floor and after asking a few questions, it appears as if the young boy has followed them there. He now says he is lonely there so Jay invites him home to live with him and his family since he has five kids. Jay texts his wife to be on alert because something may come home with him. HA!

Kris and Joe are in the machine shop doing EVP work and ask for a machine to turn on and BAM…a noise! Awww hell, it was only a compressor powering up in a closet. Meanwhile, Tango and Steve are in the attic getting scared by spiders and Tango feels disoriented. Steve says it is simply from a big spinning wheel giving the illusion of movement, but nothing paranormal.

WRAP IT UP!

The Analysis

Steve, Tango, and Joe sit down to check out all the footage and Steve makes fun of Tango trying to grow a goatee. Funny stuff. They don’t find much footage, but get a couple EVPs.

The Findings

The rest of the group comes in and gets to listen to the EVPs found by the team, and there is of course all the footage of Jay and Grant with the K2.

The Reveal

Back to the Mill where Jay and Grant sit down with Cheryl to show her what they have. First of all they debunk the water wheel for her which is easily explained. Kris and Joe actually caught an EVP of some kind of noise which sounds either like a cat or a woman making a noise. But it was only on EVP which makes it doubtful that it was a cat. Then when Jay and Grant were talking to the boy and doing EVP work, a high-pitched voice said “no nooo” or maybe “heeeellllooo” as if the little boy was trying to get their attention. Creepy and sad at the same time. When they asked for a name, they got a deeper male voice saying “Edward” or “Edgar.”

They give the explanation of the K2 work and let Cheryl know that they believe the Mill is haunted and that something is going on there. That K2 work was enough for me to believe it because the way the entity was answering specific questions was insane.

CASE TWO

The Briefing

The same team minus Joe Chin is ready to tackle the Pettibone Tavern which is also nearby so another easy trip for them. A tour guide named Chris lets the team know that the Tavern is now a restaurant since they bought it and had a fire recently damaging many rooms. Story has it that the Pettibone family lived there and the Captain’s youngest daughter Abigail was married to a man she wasn’t thrilled about. He caught her in bed with a young man one day and beheaded them both with a broad axe.

Abigail’s room is now the ladies’ restroom (way to preserve history there) and often reports of a hand on someone’s shoulder or someone moving past a person are reported. Downstairs in the restaurant, Chris says she has blown out all the candles in one room and then another, only to walk back in the first room and see every one relit. She also has gotten barnyard smells of manure and hay in a hall upstairs. And finally there have been reports of a black man slammed up against a wall in the basement.

The Investigation

Well then, we don’t even get told where the cameras are set up. That can’t be a good sign. Jay and Grant start in the basement and automatically find high EMF ratings near some electrical wire. Grant goes upstairs to the main room and finds the fields come right through the floor which explains a lot already.

Tango and Steve light candles in the restaurant and blow them out. They walk away to give a little time and try to figure out the barn smell. Steve finds a vent and takes off the grating which shows it goes straight down to the basement. There’s your dank and musty smell right there. After that they head back and the candles aren’t relit.

Jay and Grant in the ladies’ roo…err, Abigail’s bedroom and find nothing but an angelic looking toilet.

Kris and Tango find an old school phone booth and get in it. Kris freaks Tango out by pretending their stuck. Man, Tango just gets ridiculed and tormented by everyone.

Time to wrap it up! Well, that was quick.

The Analysis

Wow, we don’t even get to see the team checking out the footage. And I’m going to predict that there wasn’t diddly.

The Findings

I was right, they got nothing.

The Reveal

Jay and Grant sit back down with Chris and tell her they found nothing and had not one single personal experience. She seems a bit disappointed and then says she knows she has had these experiences. One day they’ll come back and “prove her right.” Alrighty then…cocky.

There you have another week of Ghost Hunters folks, and it wasn’t the best one in the world. The first investigation at the Slater Mill was awesome with that K2 work that was just insane. A few good EVPs and I agree with them on it being haunted. As for the Pettibone Tavern, it was boring and you knew that they’d find nothing when they started it with only twenty minutes remaining in the episode. Oh well, at least it shows that they don’t only present things when they find them. Good credibility. Have a good weekend everyone and your Captain will be back next week with another spooky tale.
