I’m a big fan of Comedy Central. I always try to watch Comedy Central Presents when I’m home and actually get that channel. I’ve been to numerous Comedy shows, and I must say, Brian Regan is one of my favorites.

His comedy isn’t above anyone’s head and at the same time, it’s smart. As he puts it, the jokes are smart jokes because he builds half the bridge to the punch line, while the audience builds the other half. However with his jokes, once you cross the bridge, you find out it’s usually a dumb funny punch line.

He stays away from anything political and doesn’t use bad language, so he’s a comic anyone can enjoy. Most of his jokes in this special focus on his ability to read, or just reading in general before moving on to TV and Marriage. And it all flows pretty well too. He’s not talking about butterflies one minute and the NFL the next without a good bridge between the two.

He’s got a very good stage presence; he is very active on stage. Not in a Dane Cook run around like an idiot while screaming way, but he wanders around in between jokes and is very expressive facially during the jokes.

Brian Regan: The Epitome of Hyperbole is present in 16×9 Widescreen with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

There’s an encore that wasn’t seen on Comedy Central, he comes back out and does 2 older jokes. There’s also a behind the scenes piece that focuses on the production and set up of the show, it was pretty interesting for me because that’s what I do. Overall it’s about 15 minutes of bonus material.

A pretty good special. He’s one of the better comedians going right now and he does it while being family friendly. If you catch it on Comedy Central it’s probably not worth picking up in stores.
