The Dark Knight swoops down on Dec. 9 (UPDATE)

The summer’s mega-blockbuster The Dark Knight will be released on DVD and Blu-ray this Dec. 9. according to Warner Home Video.

UPDATE: Now includes details of the Limited Edition Blu-ray as well as images of both Blu-ray releases!!!

The Blu-ray will have over three hours of bonus material including “an inside look at the creation of the movie with director Christopher Nolan, 2 separate documentaries exploring the psyche of Batman and his arsenal of weapons, a digital copy of the film, and much, much more!” They promise “action packed Imax framed sequences and BD Live.” The SRP is $35.99.

The Two-disc special edition will contain all the Blu-ray bonus material “including a look at the revolutionary Imax scenes.” The SRP is $34.99. There will also be a single disc edition with an SRP of $28.98. Be careful since there will be a full screen release of the single disc edition.

UPDATE

Though not 100% confirmed, there will be two Blu-ray SKUs for The Dark Knight: a standard edition and a two-disc limited edition box that comes with a Bat-Pod display case. Below you’ll see the artwork for each package.

Regardless of version, The Dark Knight will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio.
