Desperate Housewives – Episode 5-1 Review

Top Story

We couldn’t wait and evidently neither could they! The women of Wisteria Lane have returned with new men, new mischievous children and new mysteries! A lot can change in 5 years…

A spectacular car crash involving Mike and Susan sets the scene for one of, if not THE best season premiere yet! Susan’s chilling scream after seeing Mike’s body in the road leads nicely into ‘You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow’…

A shabby Gabby is seen trying to squeeze her slightly overweight daughter Juanita into a princess dress. After she asks for the next size up, the assistant suggests a Shrek dress. It then dawns to Gabby that maybe her and Carlos (who is still blind!) might have a problem. I find it ironic that Gabrielle took so much pride in her appearance only to have lost it in herself and her 2 children! She tries to trick Juanita into doing some exercise by making her run after the car!

Our Martha Stewart wannabe, Bree, is shown at a photo shoot, but is described as looking like she’s ‘making love to an ice cube’! Could it be that her cold exterior is finally causing problems in her work? Katherine is not happy with the fact that she is being ignored, despite it was her who came up with most of the recipes. I personally am not happy with Katherine’s storyline. After her fantastic scenes in the season 4 finale, I’d hoped she would have a bigger storyline. Hopefully something will come along!

It seems that our unlucky in love, desperately seeking approval Susan has changed! All she wants now is sex, sex and more sex with her house painter. But where is Mike??

Of all the great comebacks, none can be compared to that of Mrs Edie Williams. Do you know another 46 year old who would make her first appearance back on Wisteria Lane by washing her car in a leopard print swimsuit, large hat and sunglasses? Nope, neither do I!! But then again, Edie did always like washing her car and making a spectacle of it!

Lynette is struggling to control her 2 teenage twins and battle against Tom, who thinks they’re cool! Clearly Tom is going through some midlife crisis: living his life through his kids and buying a red convertible!! Another ‘dirty house calls for a dirty rat’ moment is seen when Lynette grounds her kids, only for them to be un-grounded by Tom. She gets her revenge by telling them they can drive Tom’s car to their Homecoming Dance!!

A flashback reveals that Danielle returned home to take Benjamin as she is married to Leo now and she wants him back.

Another flashback reveals that Mike didn’t check the brakes on their car properly and they killed a mother and a daughter who was born the same time that MJ was.

Orson is seen briefly, but does this mean he went to prison as Bree demanded?

What power does Dave have over Edie?

Will Gabby ever get her looks back?

Will Susan find happiness with Jackson?

Will Lynette and Tom EVER agree?

And what resident of Wisteria Lane had better watch out for Dave?

All these questions will be revealed in time!!

And remember… keep being desperate!
