My Rambling Thoughts About Tonight’s Episode While I Still Try to Comprehend How Alyson Hannigan Can Keep Getting Hotter

  • Easily the best stand-alone no plotline episode since season two. Arrividierci Fiero is probably the best example so far of a true stand alone, but this is right up there. If Carter and Craig really are going to go towards more standalone episodes in the near future, if this is any indication, sign me up.
  • Was there anything funnier than all the different reactions to the eating of the burger. My personal favorite “This is so good. I think I’m getting it pregnant,” and the “If he does get it pregnant, I call dibs on the burger babies.”
  • “Its so good, I want to sew my ass shut.” There need be no comment.
  • Robin scavenging the trash was hilarious, and I could totally relate to her whole “Why do I keep getting the food last” problem. That always happens to me, which sucks cause I’m a slow eater and I keep everyone waiting, and then people get mad at me, and then I argue with them and keep them waiting even longer. Its a terrible cycle.
  • Is Goliath National Bank actually a real bank, and How much did they have to pay How I Met Your Mother to actually advertise for them?? 2 million, 3 million. Either way, with the state of today’s ecnomy, it may be a genius move.
  • Regis was really good (Have I really done so many bullet points without mentioning the guest star). He wasn’t forced, played his part really well, and gave his usual, genius Regis tone. Unlike Britney, this seemed less of a marketing ploy. It’s a sign of a show on the rise when they can keep getting clebrity guest stars that actually are talented, like Mandy Moore and Enrique, and now Regis (Have I forgotten any other talented guest stars?? Guess not).
  • For a minute there I actually thought Marshall’s whole burger idea was a smokescreen to in the end telling Lily about the new job. I’m still not sure if I am wrong.
  • Wouldn’t they have to pay for the 10 burgers they ordered and didn’t eat. At a time like this, that, my friends, is not good money management.
  • Loved Barney’s imitation of Regis voice. It was subtle, so if you TiVo’d it and missed it, check it out when Barney meets Regis in the gym. NPH is a huge fan of Regis, and he’s really good at the imitation, which he has done on Letterman and Leno before.
  • Marshall’s Burger monologue was interesting. If ever there was a time for a laughtrack, that was it. I think it was supposed to be a humorous monologue, becuase it had some interesting lines, but the lack of a laughtrack made me second-guess this. I don’t know why, but it felt missed.
  • However, Barney Goliath National Bank lines were great. Especially in the cab. The cast fit so well in a cab, so it was good to see them in one again. Although it should be a terribly tight squeeze to fit Robin, Lily Ted and Barney in the back seat.
  • Another little subtle note that you may have not catched that I thought was great: Regis’s picture was in every “so-called” best burger places, including the veggie one.
  • I can totally relate to Marshall’s underwear radius increasing. Same thing happened to my roomate last year after he faced the jugular: a breakup and a layoff in the span of two weeks. We pretty much had to lock him in his room.
  • I gotta believe next week we’ll see Stella again, and get back to the soap-opera-ness of the show in the beginning of this first season, although it looks loke the show now has greater comedic value than at any point in season three.
  • My final grade for this episode: A solid B. It wasn’t amazing, but it was funny, had great one-liners, Lily was her usual good-looking self, Marshall finally got a job (we can only hope he won’t vry his way out again),a dn Robin was hungry!!
  • Can’t wait for next week. Sneak Preview: It has to do with my homestate of New Jersey!!!
