The Hills – Episode 4-8 Review

This Hills episode didn’t disappoint as is was packed with more lies than a presidential address.

Lauren is back from Italy and last week she found out that Stephanie and Doug have been seeing each other behind her back. Surprise? Not exactly, considering Lauren’s judgment when it comes to people is…well, flawed. Although many people just chalk it up to her being bitchy, bu sometimes I just think it’s her naivety and her willingness to trust people. Poor girl, she needs to get another friend like Whitney–the only friend who hasn’t stabbed her in the back.

Lauren and Stephanie meet up at their school in a very awkward moment. Stephanie goes on about how she doesn’t really like Doug, that he is using her to get back at Lauren and how she erased him from her phone. Oh but wait, she is going to his party. Because that makes a lot of sense? Lauren is obviously not buying it and Stephanie once again looks like a two-faced [insert appropriate bad word here].

Heidi’s mom comes to visit and Spencer is on his best behavior, which is his typical ass-like sarcastic self. He is forced to take Darlene, Heidi’s mom, out to lunch and basically tells her that she’s delusional. In my favorite moment of the night, Darlene calls Spencer “controlling and manipulative.” That’s probably the most obvious statement ever, but still so nice to hear. Of course Baby Spencer acts like a complete jerk.

Brody has a little boy chat with Doug about Stephanie. Now, Doug’s story is that he doesn’t want anything to do with her, but she is all over him. He shows Brody text messages sent from Stephanie about a late-night movie. Wait a second. Doug, weren’t you the one asking Stephanie “movie or DVD night?” just  a few scenes prior? Yeah, I thought so.

After the never-ending commercial breaks (seriously, it’s a little ridiculous), we get to see everything blow up. Whitney and Lauren are keeping to themselves and Stephanie is lounging by herself. Brody goes to confront Stephanie (where everyone can still hear) and she denies everything. She lies straight through her teeth–again! She blames it on Doug and pleads innocence. Brody of course doesn’t buy it and Lauren wants to get the hell out of there.

Before she gets to escape, Doug gets questioned and claims he did nothing wrong and that he was just trying to help a “lost” Stephanie. Meanwhile, she is listening to everything and crying her eyes out in the next room. Lauren gets pissed when Doug just refers to her as an “ex-fling” (ouch!) and gets up to leave. Being the overly nice and trusting girl she is, Lauren goes to console Stephanie. Come on, Lauren. Just slap her! Anyway, Stephanie wants nothing to do with Brody or Doug and this may be the end we see of her, for a while at least.

The unlikely Heidi/Lauren reunion gets closer next week when Heidi sends Lauren a letter. And from the looks of it, Justin Bobby is pissed to find out that Audrina went on a date with someone else. Yeah, because he is a great boyfriend and all. Well,it’s gonna be good!
