Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time WWE RAW Report 10.06.08

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Welcome back Pulse readers!  We’re off the heels of No Mercy and we still have to get RAW tonight, so enjoy the real-time coverage!

RAW video plays and the pyro shoots everywhere!  Tonight we are live from Seattle, Washington and I’m giving a shout out to Pulse Wrestling’s own Iain Burnside, who is undoubtedly enjoying tonight’s show live from the Key Arena.

Chris Jericho makes his way out to the ring with the title, proving to us that he won the championship last night.  Jericho’s mouth does not look that great, but it could had been worse.  Jericho informs us that Mike Adamle will not be at RAW tonight, so Jericho is your substitute GM tonight.  Jericho takes some shots that Shawn didn’t beat him.  However, Shawn made good on his promise to permanently disfigure him by knocking a tooth out.  Tonight, Chris Jericho is through with Shawn, but someone else isn’t through with him.  With that said, Shawn gets Lance Cade in an “anything goes” match tonight.  He says that he’s the best in this business and this brings out your #1 Contender, Batista!

“Congratulations, Chris.  Now pick the number.”  Chris doesn’t understand, and Batista tells him to pick the number of days they face off.  He wants the match today and Jericho says that despite last night, Jericho would do anything to beat him.  He tells Batista to get out of his face and his ring right now.  This draws a laugh from Batista.  One, whether Jericho likes it or not, he has a date with Batista.  Two, SPINEBUSTER!  Batista leaves the ring.

We are back and Jericho says during the break that he is in charge tonight.  Tonight, Batista will put his #1 Contendership on the line against JBL and Chris Jericho will be the special referee.

At ringside, King Regal and Queen Layla have the best seat of the house.  Time for our opening match!  But first, we have to have the Honk-A-Meter.  No?  Santino is being criticized for being too ethnic.  So tonight he is adopting a new NBA team, the newly created Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jamie Noble & Mickie James v. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix

The bell sounds and the ladies mix it up.  Beth has on a waist lock, and despite Mickie’s attempt to wrench away, she fails.  Mickie does hit a Thez press and Santino tags in, so does Noble.  Noble takes it to Marella with several forearms.  Northern Lights Suplex into the Armbar was scouted by Beth.  Noble gets a rollup for two and Santino sends Noble to the heel corner.  Beth grabs the tights and Santino rolls Noble up for three.

Winners: Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix
Grade: C-

Noble goes after Santino, and he elevates Regal up and over the barricade.  Regal goes completely insane as Mickie James tries to keep Jamie at bay.

Backstage, T-Grish is with Shawn Michaels.  He wants Shawn’s thoughts.  Shawn asks Todd if he wants him to beg Jericho to let him have the night off.  Tonight, Chris wants Lance to do his dirty work for him.  He’s going to show everyone that HBK still has plenty of gas in the tank.

We’re back and Kofi Kingston is making his way to the ring.  His opponent is flanked with two others.  Never fear, CM Punk is out to keep an eye on him.

Kofi Kingston v. Ted DiBiase, Jr.

The bell sounds and they lock up.  Kofi sends Ted to the ropes and Ted hits a shoulderblock.  Kofi comes back with a tackle.  To the corner Ted goes, Ted escapes a charge and he slams Kofi face first to the canvas.  Off the second rope…DOUBLE FOOT STOMP by Ted.  Cover gets two and he locks on a bodyscissors.  Kofi hits a reverse elbow, but Ted stays on him.  Suplex is countered to some right hands.  Kofi explodes with a sledge and a textbook dropkick.  Kofi hits a spinning kick and he goes off the ropes.  Manu causes a distraction, but that doesn’t faze Kofi.  Jamican Leg Sweep connects and Cody distracts Kofi.  Cody gets taken care of by Punk and Ted finishes this with the Million Dollar Leg Sweep.

Winner: Ted DiBiase, Jr.
Grade: C

Still to come, JBL takes on Batista.

Tommorrow Night on ECW: CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, & Ricky Ortiz v. Simply Priceless, The Miz, & John Morrison in an eight man tag!

Commercials.

Inside Jericho’s office.  He doesn’t like JBL and he doesn’t like him.  Oh, it’s not JBL – it’s Randy Orton.  Tonight, he’s going to put Randy to work.

Speaking of injured reserve, we get a video of John Cena, who has been out for about five weeks, give or take.  We get some insider info that the corner of the ring is harder than the center of the ring.  So that’s why powerbombs are done in the center.  We go to Dr. Joseph Maroon who says that the damage should be very minimal.  He will return.

Kane and Mark Henry walk to the ring.  Dolph Ziggler thinks twice before introducing himself to them, but he introduces himself to Tony Atlas. HA!

We’re back again and out comes Rey Mysterio.  He had a war last night against Kane and he’s in tag team action tonight.

Rey Mysterio & Matt Hardy v. Kane & Mark Henry

Kane and Mysterio start things off.  Rey unloads on Kane, but Kane isn’t having any of it.  Mysterio misses a kick and he kicks Kane.  Tag to Matt and he takes the punishment to him.  Kane comes back with a right hand and he tags in Mark Henry.  Henry sends Hardy corner to corner, misses the charge and tags in Rey  Poetry in Motion connects, but Henry holds onto him.  Hardy clips the leg and Mysterio falls on top of him.  We go to break.

Monday Night Football update: Vikings over Saints 17-10 in the 2nd Quarter.

We’re back and Kane has Hardy in a headlock.  During the break, Mark Henry feels the pain in his leg.  Kane shoulderblocks Hardy and he tags in Henry.  Henry tees off on Matt’s head and he picks him up.  Hardy slides off and he chop blocks Henry’s knee and takes him down to his size.  Running attempt and Hardy is derailed.  Henry misses the splash and Mysterio comes in.  He drops the dime and kicks Henry for two.  Kane hits Mysterio to stop that offense.  Henry takes Mysterio and throws him out of the ring.  Back inside Henry tags in Kane.  Headbutt connects and Rey gets sent to the corner turnbuckle.  Kane unleashes a big boot and he keeps up with the kicks in the corner.  Tag back to Henry and he hits a headbutt of his own.  He steps on Rey for four seconds and he covers for two.  Tag back to Kane and Mysterio has new life.  Kane blocks the tag attempt and he covers for two.  To the ropes we go and Mysterio decks Kane, but Kane KO’s Mysterio.  Kane goes to the top and he misses the clothesline.  Hurrancurana to the second turnbuckle connects for Rey and in comes Hardy and he beats into Kane!  Neckbreaker hits and he drops Henry like a bad habit.  Chokeslaam try is avoided and Matt hits a top rope bulldog.  Henry is in and out.  Hardy sets Kane up for the 619!  Henry grabs Rey and he throws him at the top rope, knocking Hardy off to his feet.  Chokeslam by Kane and it’s over.

Winners: Kane & Mark Henry
Grade: B

Up next is Shawn Michaels v. Lance Cade…ANYTHING GOES!

Commercials.

MNF Update: Still 17-10 and 4 minutes until halftime.

This Friday: Big Show challenges for the WWE Championship!

WWE 24/7 Moment: Wrestlemania 14 – Pete Rose talks trash about Boston and gets tombstoned by Kane!

He thinks he’s sexy and all the ladies love him.  HBK is here and he is in a one way mission to humiliate Lance Cade.

Shawn Michaels v. Lance Cade
No DQ

The bell sounds and they go at it in the center.  Cade hits big first and he says that he’s going to play outside.  He pulls out a table and he drops Michaels face first on the commentary table.  He beats some more sense in and he sets the table up.  Cade sets up for the Rock Bottom THROUGH THE TABLE!  Cade talks trash to Shawn and he throws him in the ring.  Cade grabs a steel chair.  Back inside the ring, Shawn hits a Thez Press abnd beats the hell out of Cade.  Chair meets Cade’s skull and Michaels goes wild with the chair!  He goes for the cover and gets the academic win.

Winner: Shawn Michaels
Grade: C+

Shawn’s look is still priceless and he continues to bash the chair over and over on Lance Cade!  He leaves the ring as the referees are tending to Lance Cade.  Lance Cade was sent to the woodshed and he did not survive.

MNF Update: Vikings 20; Saints 10 – Halftime

We’re back and MC hails SmackDown as the highest show on MyNetwork TV.  Jerry Lawler is inside the ring.  He says that Santino claims to be the greatest Intercontinental Champion alive.  However, in 3 weeks his title will be on the line against the fans’ choice.  Our choices are:

Roddy Piper
Goldust
Honky Tonk Man

This has gotten interesting.  Lillian announces for our next match, but is interrupted by the Great Khali.  He’s very angry at Johnny Knoxville for some reason.  Runjin Singh takes the mic and Khali says something.  He said that he had an interview with Knoxville at Jackass World.  Knoxville talks about his tallywacker of all things.  That was a hugely inappropriate question and it pissed off Khali.  So, Khali invites Knoxville to RAW next week and Khali shows that he can have some fun…so we get the Khali Kiss Cam!  The graphic goes to Lillian…and he kisses her.  She is taken back at that.

Commercials.

RAW has gotten livelier with the addition of Miz & Morrison.  However, Jillian Hall has to kill our hearing.  Kelly Kelly with a remix of her music comes out to save us, flanked by Cryme Tyme.  So we have a six person commentary team tonight.

Kelly Kelly v. Jillian Hall

They lock up and Jillian slams K2 off.  Kelly gets a quick rollup for two.  K2 shows off her athletic abilities with a top rope flip armdrag.  Jillian sends K2 off the apron as I am enjoying the commentary.  Back in the ring, Jillian pulls the hair.  She stomps on the head and the tosses K2 around.  She chokes K2 for a bit then follows with a backbreaker.  K2 gets out of the torque, but Jillian tries to rearrange the face.  Jillian rams K2 into the corner, but she rakes her eyes.  K2 gets sent corner to corner and gets thrusted by her.  K2 fights back, but Jillian proves her dominance.  She beats K2’s head against the canvas.  K2 can get down according to Cryme Tyme.  K2 gets a flip into a rollup for three!

Winner: Kelly Kelly
Grade: A+ Commentary; D match – No splitting of the difference this time around.

The main event is NEXT!

Commercials.

MNF Update: 3rd quarter and it’s still 20-10 Vikings.

We get more Cena footage.  He had surgery at 11am and he was seen at the arena later that evening.

We’re back and Batista assess the situation.  The bell sounds and they lock up.  JBL gets backed to a corner and Jericho quickly breaks it up.  Another lockup and JBL sends Batista corner to corner and Batista unleashes a clothesline for a half of a count.  Batista takes it to JBL in the corner and he punches him in the gut.  Chop block connects not once but twice.  Batista works on the leg and he locks on a Figure Four!  JBL touches the rope and Jericho forces a break.  The distraction gets a neckbreaker for JBL for a fast 2 count.  JBL beats into Batista in the corner and Jericho is really being fair.  Note that sarcasm.  JBL hits a clothesline for a normal two count.  JBL looks for a suplex, but Batista hits one of his own instead.  He goes for a cover and Jericho does not cover.  Batista calls Jericho a joke and JBL pokes the eye, sending Batista outside.  Now Jericho tries to send JBL back inside the ring and Regal beats the Hell out of Batista.  JBL covers for a quick two count.  Full Nelson is locked in by JBL, but Batista breaks the hold.  Off the ropes, Batista is locked in a sleeper.  He counters to a suplex as Jericho plays cheerleader to JBL.  Batista sends JBL to the corner and he thrusts into JBL.  Jericho trips him up and Regal attacks again.  Batista takes care of Regal and he hits a spear on both JBL and Jericho!  Mike Adamle is here tonight and he sends a referee in the ring.  Chidoa gets a two count!  Batista dodges the Clothesline from Hell and Batista nails the Spinebuster!  Batista Bomb connects and he covers JBL for the win.

Winner: Batista
Grade: C+

Jericho is beside himself as Mike Adamle says that Jericho will defend the title against Batista at Cyber Sunday!  The fans will get to choose the special referee.  We can pick between Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, or STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!

Cyber Sunday has gotten interesting.

The Final Grade for WWE RAW 10.06.08: C

Tonight was a night for Jericho, only for him to get screwed over in the end.  The matches were okay and RAW escapes with an average grade for tonight.  I’m interested om what will happen next week as we build to Cyber Sunday.  I’ll be here later this week with the W-Files.  Have a nice week!
