Bye weeks are here. I’ve uncovered some guys you can plug in to your lineup if you are dealing with byes, an injury, or tough matchups. Check back following the games to see the stat line of guys profiled.
QB
JaMarcus Russell – First a Chicago QB and now a Raider one. It’s all about the matchups. If you are dealing with an injury or a bye, why not try out a QB facing the ‘Aints pass D (as in Ain’t stopping anybody)? He’s coming off a 277 yard effort vs. San Diego prior to the bye week. I’m guessing Al Davis will want JaMarcus to chuck it plenty this week or he’ll find someone to coach who will.
RB
Justin Fargas – With RunDMC still banged up, Fargas should factor more into the ground attack for the Raiders. I realize I’m staking my rep to a pair of Raiders, but the matchup vs. the Saints puts my mind at ease.
Andre Hall – Selvin Young won’t suit it up this week giving Andre Hall a chance to shine before Ryan Torain returns in a couple weeks. Jacksonville isn’t the run stopper they once were so Hall stands a chance to put up a decent line.
WR
Bobby Engram– He caught eight passes for 61 yards in his season debut last week vs. the Giants and their #2 ranked pass D. Naturally I would expect him to do even better vs. 13th ranked Green Bay.
Vincent Jackson – Chris Chambers is likely to miss or be limited in this week’s game vs. the Patriots meaning V-Jax could play a bigger role in the offense. Chambers has been a TD machine so perhaps Jackson takes a turn this week.

Visanthe Shiancoe – Shiancoe is finally starting to show why the Vikings invested so much money in him with 2 TDs in three weeks. He still drops his share of passes, but he could be good for another score vs. Detroit.
K
Sebastian Janikowski – What the hay? Why not make it a trifecta with my 3rd Raider? Seabass has three kicked 3 FGs in each of his past three games. Couple that with New Orleans allowing 13 FGs and 50 Kicker points, which are both second in the league. That makes Seabass an attractive option.
DEF
Washington – No, I’m not going Raiders here. I’m not nuts. Instead I’m turning to Washington. They haven’t produced good fantasy numbers with just 6 Sacks and 7 Turnovers, but keep in mind they’ve played the Giants, the Saints, the Cardinals, the Cowboys, and the Eagles. You’re talking Eli, Brees, Warner, Romo, and McNabb. That’s a pretty good assortment of QBs. This week is a different story as they face Bulger and the struggling Rams. They should produce multiple Sacks and turnovers.
