Ask Jaime & Murtz: Survivor: Gabon – Episode 4

Shows

Murtz: Jaime! So glad to be writing with you this week! What did you think of the episode? I think a lot of people know that I have a thing for blondes and that you are one of my favorite blondes to play the game, but this week, two of your blonde sisters were in trouble and one went home. I wasn’t happy to see Jacquie go. What about you? And inquiring minds want to know, who do you think was hotter. Jacquie or Kelly? I am totally on the fence.

Jaime: Great Episode but it was definitely a reminder that Survivor can be unjust. The stronger player doesn’t always stick around. I hate when there are sudden twists from producers. They end up hurting everyone’s strategy. I wasn’t happy to see Jacquie go either. I think she was the hottest girl on this season of Survivor and she worked her butt off.

Murtz: I totally agree with you. Jacquie was in a power position and seemed like she had the game completely locked up. It really bothers me when players that suck in the challenges are rewarded for the futility by getting dealt a better hand because of a twist. Jacquie got a completely raw deal. Is there really any doubt that the remaining Onion members will go to the end? I can’t see anyone challenging Marcus, Charlie and Corinne. Especially if Randy turns which I expect him to. What did you think of the challenges this week? I thought they were hilarious!

Jaime: Exactly, I mean Kelly did absolutely nothing and she is sitting pretty on her tribe. I thought the challenges this week were great. I would have hated having to rank the players on my team. I am sure it was pretty difficult to have a tribe swap so early in the game! The little boat challenge was hilarious. Some people looked they were on a treadmill…they kept moving their arms but they didn’t go anywhere. I think more people should have used their hands like Ace. Speaking of challenges… did you see Team Blonde on Amazing Race tonight? What did you think about Marisa in the wrestling outfit!? Haha I love those girls, they are hilarious!

Murtz: Hahaha. I KNEW they would have a pink wrestling outfit specifically for Marisa and Brooke. Now, I am sure some readers might not know this but you’re friends with Team Blonde on the Amazing Race right? How do you know them? They are single right? Right??? And they had a big Amazing Race party on Sunday and sent us a couple of pictures. We already knew they loved me (after you introduced me to them at your Survivor finale), but why are they saying to vote for you and Erik?

Jaime: Yes, the girls are two of my best friends. They are both going to be bridesmaids in my wedding. I have been best friends with Marisa since I was in 8th grade. We grew up in the same neighborhood. Brooke and I became close in college. Everyone called us “Team Blonde” at USC and we were notorious for taking road trips to Clemson and singing karaoke at The Salon downtown. We have all been best friends ever since! And yes, the girls are single! They are trying to help Erik and me win the Charleston Wedding Giveaway. We are finalists in the wedding contest and there are only 4 more days of voting. If we get the most votes we will win an amazing wedding in Charleston, SC…my favorite city in the entire country!

Murtz: Awesome, where can people vote? And is that why you and Erik sent me these hilarious photos too? I am feeling so much love from the happy couple and Team Blonde! By the way, you can check Marisa and Brooke out at MeetTeamPink.com. Unless of course you are all telling me you love me just to plug your contest and The Amazing Race!

Jaime: You can vote by going to this link.
You can watch the video we made there too! It is pretty hilarious. You know we all love you Murtz and a nice plug doesn’t hurt either! :) Let’s go to the picks!

THIS WEEK’S BEST PLAYERS

RANDY

Murtz: What an unbelievable week for Randy The Grouch. He literally went from worst to first! Not only did he spearhead a powerful alliance at Fang with Matty, Susie and Dan but he quickly adapted when the tribes were switched. Instead of panicking that he was now in the minority at Kota, Randy did exactly what any Survivor player involved in a twist should do. Sell out his tribe! Randy didn’t waste any time demanding that his team not pick GC who he said was “playing his own game” and while I know that there is an argument to be made for Randy getting his team to pick GC just to vote him off, that was too much of a risk. Randy did the right thing. In addition, he absolutely dominated the immunity challenge scoring all three goals for his new team. I don’t think you could ask for a better single episode performance. Jaime, what do you think?

Jaime: Randy surprised me in this episode. He kicked butt in the challenge and made some excellent strategic moves. He was quick on his toes after the switch and I think he set himself up great for the rest of the game. He defiantly changed my initial opinion about him.

KEN

Murtz: It was a good week for everybody’s favorite video game player, Ken Hoang. While he obviously didn’t match Randy’s performance in the immunity challenge, he certainly made the move of the game in selecting Kelly to join the Fang tribe. He completely ignored Ace’s advice to not select her, realizing that the reason she was the least valuable member of the Kota tribe was because she was on the outside of the power core and this was something that could be used to sway her over to the Fang side. That’s exactly what ended up happening. While Ken was on the outside of Randy’s alliance at Fang, he is now in power after the switch. It’s a great comeback for the guy who we all thought was only aligned with Michelle after the first episode.

Jaime: Ken’s choice to pick Kelly was key. I love how he threw in the fact that he could relate to her for always being chose last and he thought she was hot. It made it seem like a random choice but he had a strategy behine the pick all along! Ken is the new comeback kid.

CRYSTAL

Murtz: I am amazed by how much power Crystal has seized at the Fang camp. While she hasn’t really performed well in the challenges, she seems to be running the show now. Along with Ken, she figured out that eliminating Jacquie was the group’s best move to make sure that Sugar’s hidden immunity idol didn’t take their numerical advantage away from them and this was a very impressive fact for her to deduce. While I personally didn’t like to see Jacquie going home, I can’t argue that it was the best move for the original Fangers to make. What do you think Jaime?

Jaime: I would not mess with Crystal and it looks like she has taken control of the Fang camp. I think the decision to get rid of Jacquie was a great strategic move on Crystal’s behalf. Even when Jacquie tried to form an alliance with her, she saw right through it and decided to keep Kelly around so she has the numbers. I think it was the best choice they could have made strategically but I am a little worried they will have problems winning challenges in the future.

THIS WEEK’S WORST PLAYER

KELLY

Jaime: Kelly set herself up great by aligning with the other tribe but she has to learn to at least pretend to be a little more excited about the challenges and camp life. She needs to get her butt up and start working around the camp and make a conscious effort to try to do well in the challenges. Otherwise, they are going to have to get rid of her. She almost got the boot because she performed so terribly. I think her comments at tribal council were poor decisions too. She should not make negative comments about anyone she was trying to align herself with.

Murtz: I agree Jaime. Kelly was given new life in the game after the twist and her bad attitude and terrible challenge performance almost ruined it for her. I think that she did the smart thing by jumping ship because it was clear she was not in Kota’s long-term plans. I totally agree with you about her comments at tribal council too. I kept cringing as she kept digging the hole deeper and deeper for herself. I think next week will be critical for her. If she can make it one more week, I think she will be in the game for awhile.

JAIME’S PICK

“Kenny you sucked at that challenge!” -GC

MURTZ’S PICK

Best line of the night: “Welcome to another tribal council starring the Fang tribe.” –Jeff Probst

“And Kenny, he’s like mini-me to GC.” -Randy

“If it’s not me, I’ll go along with it. If it is me, I’ll burn the camp down.” –Randy
