Gossip Girl – Episode 6-6 Review

Top Story

It’s college visitation time and unsurprisingly most of the main characters end up visiting the same exact college (Yale). To be honest, I was a little disappointed and bored with this week’s episode. Read on…

Blair and Serena are still fighting over…um…I don’t even remember. Oh that’s right. Serena became the new “it” girl by gracing the pages of magazines while Blair remained the jealous friend. Even though Serena longs to go to Brown, she ends up visiting Yale out of spite. After some brutal fights in front of the dean and some unrealistic understanding on his part, it seems Serena and Blair call a truce. Serena is willing to give up her admissions spot for her best friend. Yeah, because that’s how it works with college admissions…

Chuck is initially interested in the school because of its reputation for the secret societies, which are basically made to look like nothing more than a group of trust fund idiots. They want to get back at Nate Archibold whose father screwed them out of money and Chuck gives them Dan instead. Needless to say, they aren’t pleased and Dan ends up tied to a building in his boxers. When they seek revenge on Chuck, he blackmails them with incriminating photos. It all was a little too over the top for me. Who can’t Chuck Bass take on?

Dan visits Yale with high hopes and a missing recommendation. He befriends Nate who is hooking up with a different girl (yes, again). The girl agrees to help Dan get into the English program. Nate also gets mad at Chuck about the whole Dan thing and tells him off. Nate and Dan are actually becoming friends much to Chuck’s disliking. So, he leaves alone and jealous…something I’m sure will make for some good drama in upcoming episodes.

As for Jenny, she finally convinces Rufus that she should stay out of school and take on designing for Eleanor Waldorf full time. Exciting, yes. Lily and Rufus are still in that weird flirting limbo and Vanessa is just there.

Ok, I’ll forgive the writers for a lackluster episode every now and then, because this episode did set up a lot of storyline potential for the future. Even the previews for next week look ten times better as Blair tries to get Chuck to take down Vanessa (her next victim, I guess) by seducing him. Stay tuned for the scandal!
