NFL Week 7 Fantasy Fill-ins

Top Story

Bye weeks are here.  I’ve uncovered some guys you can plug in to your lineup if you are dealing with byes, an injury, or tough matchups.   Check back following the games to see the stat line of guys profiled.

QB
Jeff Garcia
– I would rather plug in Cherry Garcia vs. the lowly Seahawks than Father Time (Brad Johnson) vs. the Rams.  Seattle has allowed 9 passing TDs already, which is the most by a team that’s already had their bye.
Stat Line:

RB
Dominic Rhodes – I feel pretty confident plugging in Dominic Rhodes this week with Addai out.  He ran well against Baltimore last week, and it should be even easier vs. Green Bay’s 27th ranked (153.3 ypg) run D.  With Manning back to form, life is easier for their ground game.
Stat Line:

Chris Johnson – Kansas City is a mess.  Now they’ve benched LJ and it wasn’t for his assault charges.  They’ve allowed 182.2 ypg and 8 TDs.  Johnson should get loose vs. the Chief
Stat Line:

Mewelde Moore – It appears Willie Parker won’t be able to go after aggravating his knee in practice.  If he can’t go, Moore makes a strong play this weekend against Cincinnati, who has given up 156.8 ypg and 8 TDs.
Stat Line:

WR
Muhsin Muhammad –  Muhsin faces the Saints this weekend, who have allowed 227.3 ypg and 7 TDs through the air.  Steve Smith will attract the “best” the Saints have to offer on D.  Muhsin should torch the leftovers.
Stat Line:

Derrick Mason –  Mason is about the only thing going for Baltimore on Offense.  He has 256 (85.3) yards and 2 TDs in three games he’s faced Miami.  Plus, the Dolphins are 29th against the pass allowing 239 yards and 8 TDs.
Stat Line:

TE
Greg Olsen – Since E.J. Henderson went down the Vikings have been less successful covering Tight Ends.  Olsen is very athletic and could be a difficult guard for Minnesota.
Stat Line:

K
Lawrence Tynes
– I’m stepping out on this one assuming Tynes gets the nod this week.  If he does get the start over John Carney, he should start the season off well facing San Francisco, who have allowed 16 FGs (1most), 17 PATs (4th most), and 65 points (most).
Stat Line:

DEF
Miami
– I won’t pick on the Chiefs because of course you’re starting Tennessee.  Baltimore is 25th with 283.8 ypg.  They are also 28th in scoring at 15.6 ppg.  Baltimore has allowed 10 Sacks and has turned the ball over 12 times.
Stat Line:

New York Jets – Another D I’d roll with is the Jets vs. the Raiders.  The Raiders are averaging just 291.6 ypg (23rd) and 16.2 ppg (26th).  Oakland has allowed 12 Sacks and has 8 Turnovers.
