One Tree Hill – Episode 6-8 Review

And the throwbacks keep on coming. If you’ve been a Tree Hill fan for a long time, you probably loved this episode. Not only did we get a glimpse of Nathan’s ever-terrible dance moves, but Derek (the real one) is back as well.

That’s right. Peyton goes to see her long lost brother Derek. They had a few touching scenes, but I hope I was not the only one confused by her some stuff she said. She implies that Mick is Derek’s dad too. Meanwhile, we already know Ellie is his mom. Derek is black so either he was adopted or that was a huge continuity error. I hope it’s the former because I know I couldn’t have been the only one to pick that up.

Lucas meets with a mysterious producer who is interested in making his first book into a film. It seems almost too good to be true. He signs a contract without really taking time to think about it (sorry, a few hours is nothing). Next thing we know, this producer Julian has an unknown history with Peyton. But at this point, who doesn’t? Moving on…

Nathan plays his first official Slamball game and does a decent job. I know most of us are just happy to see him sweating on the court again. Oh come on, he looks good! He and Haley have some cute scenes together, but nothing like we used to see, which is a little disheartening. Jamie kept the funny this episode, filling Sam in on all the drama on who’s kissed who.

Sam isn’t the best influence on Jamie. In a really unrealistic storyline, Sam asks Jamie (a 5-year old!) to go to a party with her. Who does that? Not only does she throw a party in Brooke’s store, but she ruins Peyton’s wedding dress in the process. Ok, we get that she is rebellious, but come on!

Mouth has been spending a lot of time with Gigi lately and it’s nice to see Millicent a little jealous. She comes out of her shell a bit and marks her territory. Something tells me that Mouth is going to be caught hooking up with Gigi sometime soon. We all know it’s coming.

Next week’s previews had me gasp as we see Peyton and Julian kiss. After the initial shock, I smartened up to realize it has to be a flashback. There is no way she would compromise her relationship with Lucas now. We also get to see a naked Owen in the backseat of Brooke’s car trying to win back her affections (another throwback!). It’s going to be a good one!
