Silva Requesting Immediate Fight

News

Fans and media alike revolted against Anderson Silva after his non-performance against Patrick Cote at UFC 90. Silva, who never allows opponents to get out of the first or second round (and in fact had never been taken to the third round in his entire UFC career), seemed listless and more concerned with dancing and avoiding Cote than being the ruthless striker that took him to the top of most pound for pound rankings in mixed martial arts.

Silva has claimed that he was simply executing a game plan and wanted to take Cote into the 4th round and then finish the fight, but he’s apparently hearing fan complaints loud and clear: UFC President Dana White told the Las Vegas Review-Journal today that Silva has requested an immediate fight, possibly as soon as UFC 91 on November 15th.

“He’s flipping out. He wants to fight again, like, on Nov. 15,” White said. “He’s (upset) about his performance and he wants to fight again immediately.”

While it’s unlikely that White and matchmaker Joe Silva will have any luck finding a fighter willing to step into the cage with Silva on such short notice, stranger things have happened. A more realistic scenario would see Silva fighting on the December 10th Fight For The Troops card on Spike, likely at light heavyweight.
